I know this has literally no effect on the running of my pc, but I can't figure it out for the life of me and would like to see if anyone here knows the solution

I have 2 monitors connected to my 3090 with DP cables. No matter what order these cables are in, the bios shows up on my second monitor when starting my PC. I tried scouring the internet to find if there was a solution to my "problem", but only could find some outdated videos, articles, and an evga faq related to the 900 series port priority.

Anyone with thoughts on this?

This is the 3080 port priority according to Jacob, which I would assume the 3090 is identical:

That said with mine, if I disconnect everything EXCEPT the primary monitor, then reconnect the other displays, the display choice will persist through reboots until a cold boot cycle (poweroff).

It's a less than ideal solution but it works until nvidia removes their heads from their behinds.

silly question - does the port priority have any bearing on latency whatsoever?

    CPU: 9700k @4.8ghz
    GPU: 3080 XC3 Ultra
    PSU: Corsair RM850X
    RAM: 2x16gb G.Skill TridentZ
SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB
    MOBO: Asus Z390-i
    CASE: Corsair Crystal 280X

I see this issue. What i do is turn pc on, turn monitor on that i want bios to start loading on, than turn on second.

My guess if it happens even following port priority is that the monitor that gets the bios screen is probably faster to wake up than the other. Check the monitors energy saving and sleep settings. Could be fixable that way if not the only workaround is probably manually turning monitor on and the other off until you get bios loading.

Personally I would just use the bios on the alternative monitor and not care too much. If they're next to each other it's probably not worth turning off every features.

Has anyone figured out why this is happening? This is super annoying and it's actually messing with my Nvidia Share record settings. It will record my 2nd monitor instead. Both of my monitors are indentical G7 monitors. I have a 3090 and my bios only boots from 2nd monitor. Regardless of the fact I have set the primary display in nvidia cp. I have even unplugged the 2nd monitor, restarted, booted to bios and got the bios to show up from port 1. Plug in the 2nd monitor and bam back to bios on display 2. I know since the monitors are identical I can swap them around but I should not have to do this. Nvidia needs to address this.
