I finally received my 3090 Kingpin after waiting 8 months on the elite members list. Suddenly today my PC shuts off in the middle of a game- no issues with temperatures or freezing at all before this point. My computer refuses to boot, in fact the motherboard power lights turn on for a second and then shut off immediately. I tried other PCIE ports, but eventually replaced the card with my old 1080Ti and everything starts as normal. I'm using a gold rated 1300w EVGA PSU that's a couple years old. The power cable connectors on the 3090 have a burnt odor, though I can't see any visible charring or melting on the card. I plan to RMA it asap, but have no idea how long that process is going to take for this card.

Sorry to hear.  Luckily you had a backup GPU to test and make sure your system runs fine and that the Kingpin was the culprit.  I'm sure EVGA will do you right.

I'd contact them on Monday or when you're able to to start that RMA process asap.

They should be pretty quick for an rma.  They don't repair and resend it back usually so you get back another KP card.  Depending on how long you've had your gpu, they may send you a new in retail box unit or more than likely they will send you a refurbished unit to replace your defective unit.

Was there a burnt smell briefly when you powered on and first noticed the card didn’t power on?

No only the moment the computer shut off. Something on the card definitely popped.

Does the OLED say anything at boot? Like low power? The burnt smell is not a good sign. I had kp go on me at boot with a brief burnt smell. The OLED gave low power errors and that was that.

No lights on the gpu turn on, nor the motherboard (I think the mobo did on the first boot for just a split second). The cpu cooler light flashes for half a second and then nothing. Once I pulled out the GPU and replaced it with my old one, everything is normal. I read that this is caused by dead gpus tripping the power safeties. My PSU is fine, I also had tested new vga power cables and ports on my modular PSU. The card definitely had a sudden issue after a month of use.
