3080 XC3 Ultra Step Up to the 3080 FTW3 Ultra ?

I just managed to secure a XC3 + mobo bundle on newegg. I'm currently in the queue for the 3080 FTW3, but I am at 9/18 1pm, so I bought the XC3 due to uncertainty of availability. I was told that EVGA allows you to step up from the 3080 XC3 to the 3080 FTW3. How does this work? Once my spot in the queue is called for the FTW3, I can "step up" and just pay the difference? Or is the step up program something else entirely and completely disregards the queue system?

    My understanding is the Step Up is separate from the Auto Notify queue. You need to register your XC3 within 2 weeks of purchase, then sign up for Step up within 90 days. Then you wait in that queue to purchase your ftw3 for the difference in price. The Auto Notify queue from 9/18 for your ftw3 is for a separate retail purchase.

    Yes you would need to register your card and upload your invoice, once that's done you would just go to the details of your registered card and you would see the option to buy extended warranty or begin new step up process and pick your card that's on the list of step up options.
