Great info OP.  I've installed two kits on my old 1080's and it went smooth as silk.
Looks like you get plenty of tubing with the kit, is that the standard AIO length for the rest of the hybrid cards?

I got 1 coming soon. Is there a way to control the pump speed?

yes. get a cable called a MINI GPU TO 4PIN PWM, route it through the shroud, configure one of your fan headers to DC MODE, and make a "fan curve" according to your cpu temps. 60% is the lowest the pump will work, and 100% when your cpu temps are higher in gaming for example

This went pretty smooth, photos below.

Some key points:

  • The thermal "rubber" on the VRM's is a pain in the ass to clean off.  It flakes.  I used a spudger from an iFixit kit to clean it all out
  • The tubes are crisscrossed for front mounting, kinda weird. my 1080 Ti Hybrids weren't like this but it's not a big deal, shouldn't cause any issues.
  • Don't freak out once you startup.  The pump will be loud and gurgle for about 3-4 minutes as all the air moves out into the radiator, if doing a top mount that probably won't last as long.  As GN says, don't do a bottom mount.  The pump will be way noisier than the fans if you do that.  After the bubbles move out it's silent, contrary to other posts I saw on here about the 2080 hybrid kits.
  • I didn't replace the TIM on the pump, looks to be solid so far
My results are good, switched from my uV normal profile to the 450w OC profile, saw an improvement of 900 pts with a decent overclock (+125 GPU, +300 mem) in Port Royal, and temps never above 60.  Very pleased but didn't get a lot of time to play with it.   I am using 2 corsair ML fans and am using the commander pro to control them instead of the GPU.  Still going to tweak the profiles a bit and see if I can turn up the pump speed by increasing the "black" connector fan speed.

So the thermal rubber doesn’t come off with standard arctic TIM remover? Thanks.

Yeah, its in between the VRM's and that's kinda .2/.3 mm gap there so a PITA to clean.

You do not. The new cooler has new pads. You need to salvage what you can from the original cooler as you will have to reinstall the cooler if you need to rma your card.

avoid the hybrid BIOS - stick with the original or XOC BIOS.. the Hybrid runs the fans on High all the time and you loose the ability to control the fans.   there is ZERO benefit to switching to the hybrid BIOS.

This is wrong, that's because most people are only flashing the bioses, and forget to run the latest version of PrecisionX to let it recognize the card as a Hybrid and then apply the MC controller firmware update (this solves the issue you are mentioning).

Just FYI, anyone that flashes the hybrid bios, remember to run the latest Precision X to let it also update the firmware, this solves the fans issues.

And by the way, once you have flashed the 'converter' to Hybrid bios, you can also flash the XOC bios for the hybrid 450w (Jacob posted it on the XOC bios thread)

OK i am half way there. i used nvflash ans put the default normal bios on then i was able to install the hybrid kit normal  and it worked.
I used nvflash to flash the original oc bios back on but when i rebooted and tried to install the OC hybrid kit bios i got this error

Agree, I had zero issue with the hybrid BIOS, I first installed and there was no hybrid bios. Once provided on this thread I installed and since I was on the latest PX1 it did a firmware update and the fans work as described since. The only way I could trigger a max fan speed, and that wasn’t on the VRM fan but the radiator fans, is if I unplugged one or didn’t get it in all the way. I tried a 3 pin fan and the stock fan to see if it was a rpm reading thing but that worked fine too.

Make sure you download and install the latest PX1 before installing the hybrid bios.

After you apply the above BIOS you can flash the higher power BIOS that is in the sticky threads.

Somethng's wrong, but it isnt allowing me to flash the XOC Hybrid bios for my FTW3 on either OC or Normal, after flashing the above referenced Hybrid BIOS. The versions show up correct as .46 and .47, but now I am getting No adapters found when trying to flash the XOC.

Should I change to the XC3 Hybrid BIOS? I've read some reports of issues. What are the advantages?

Anyone know what the RPM of the fans that come with this kit? I want to swap over 2 of my ML120's so it matches in my system.

I do not know the max RPM of the stock fans that come with the kit. 100% will show 2500rpm. I swapped the fans out for ML120s.

I converted my xc3 3090 and used the hybrid BIOS provided by EVGA Jacob to 3090 XC3 Hybrid. Everything works fine, but I’m noticing really high idle wattage at around 180-220watts on desktop with no intensive programs. Before converting bios to hybrid kit BIOS, the graphics card wattage would be 20- 40 watts. The temperatures seem fine but I was wondering if their will be a update for the 3090 xc3 hybrid kit BIOS that would fix idle power wattage to the 3090 hybrid kit. It seems 180-220watts on idle would be too much power consumed from 3090.

Install of the kit was simple. Updated BIOS on my 3080 XC3 Ultra was a breeze to the hybrid BIOS mentioned earlier. Undervolt now down clocks the GPU when mining Ethereum. Unable to encounter the downclock in any other scenario including gaming. Be warned people :).

Anyone have the link to the standard 3080 XC3 Ultra BIOS?

Is there any fix for the randomly ramping up fans with the hybrid bios?
I installed the hybrid kit, flashed the bios from Jacob, installed x1 - 1.1.7.1 (also tried 1.1.7.0), got prompted for a firmware upgrade (94.02.42.00.47) and fans are still reving up to 30.000.000 rpm according to software, despite obviously not physically possible. Only happens under load tho and randomly every few mins.
That pc turning into a hair dryer randomly below my desk is quite annoying!

I don’t believe a fix has been provided yet. I keep checking back and many have mentioned the issue but official responses have been nearly non-existent. It would be nice to have a fix other than plugging your fans into your mobo as a work around. I would also like the original BIOS to downgrade road I intend to go full water at a later date.

Having the mb control them is the way to go to avoid the high speed fan issue, and it frees up a couple watts to the GPU. I actually have my rad fans plugged into a power commander (as opposed to mb) which icue manages based on GPU temp.

I've got the PWM signal for my hybrid rad fans going to my case's simple 6x position fan hub.  4x fans in push pull on sata power.  Was thinking about tying in some of the case fans too.

Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Thanks for sharing the pics.  I'm using the same case, and the case is one of the reason's why I'm on the fence in purchasing the 3080/3090 FTW3 Hybrid Kit.   I did think of the same configuration as you, because mounting the rad on the bottom is not an option... unless I went a custom loop with a res and D5 pumps... I prefer a pull configuration rather than push on a radiator for maintenance reasons, but I don't mind push to flex the RGB in front of the case... lol.

How is this set up working out for you so far?  Is the pump still performing the same from when you 1st installed it, or does it sound different? and how do you get to the magnetized dust filter in the front of the case for maintenance?
