Hi, good fellas.
How do you think EVGA is going to handle the 3070 launch.
1) They drop some cards on launch day and then proceed with the queue system same as 3080
2) They open an sign up 1-2 days prior to launch and allot cards randomly from that list on launch day, and then proceed with the queue system
3) Elite members only sale first
4) Open sale
What are your opinions? Personally 3 and 4 will be a bummer for me.

No thinking.  Jacob said the plan was to start the queue system on Oct. 29th at 6am PST.   The only uncertain thing is if EVGA will actually enable the notify button before 6am or not since it's only a "plan" at the moment.  I'd say just keep an eye out throughout the week to see if anything changes.

I might have missed that. Can you please link to the statement by Jacob?

2 would count as a pre order and aren't those still a no-no?

3 would be a scalpers dream and 4 is probably impossible, even with better supply it will be tough.

Ugh, I guess they haven't come up with a better solution than the queue then.  That's not good.  The queue system works great for the 3080's and 90's, but ONLY because no one (particularly botters) knew about it ahead of time.  They can't use the same strategy moving forward, because botters will be lined up with thousands of accounts ready to hit that button as soon as it lands.  It will do nothing except create the exact same set of circumstances that were so disastrous with the 3080 launch - no one except bots being able to get cards.

I had hoped that EVGA had something more planned for the launches of future cards.

It should still work. There's a lot of red tape to get the card.  It's not like you can just make the purchase outright.  EVGA reviews your queue status and send a custom link to order the card directly.  Lot of other requirements have to be met before the e-mail goes out so bots will get kicked out of line on a regular basis.

All they need to do is ignore any new accounts made in Oct 2020, especially if they have zero posts.  EVGA is doing the best of any company to help get cards into the proper hands.

they have to scan the delivery points for multiple cards for any of this to work.unless you have 30 p.o.boxes (i hope they dont allow deliveries to p.o.boxes)
the scalpers can easily be weeded out.BUT they actually have to "do it"there in lies the problem, will they ?

Just thinking out loud...will the internet crash this week?  Seriously...Zen 3 comes out on the 28th and 3070 on the 29th.  EVGA is only doing 3070, so we'll kind of know what to expect, but other retailers...holy smokes, I don't envy them at all...their servers will have to deal with BOTH traffic on the 29th.  The end of week, Halloween, weekend...recipe for server disaster, IMO.  Best of luck to all of them.  I'll have my battle on the 28th as I do want / need a processor for my new build.
