Hi all, I've had my 3070 since December 2021, and I have had this issue since 3 months after buying the card. Whenever I do not put a fan profile on the card, it enjoys ramping itself up to 4000rpm constantly during gaming, and whenever I set a custom fan setting in MSI afterburner or precision x1, it will stay there but randomly spike to 4000 rpm for 3 seconds and then drop back down. This is pretty annoying and I have had no success dealing with this, any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Repasting the GPU core usually resolves that issue.

The core temperature reported to you is the average temperature. Just because the core temperature doesn't seem to be hot, doesn't mean a spot isn't getting hot and isn't causing the fan to ramp up.

As thermal cycles occur, voids in the thermal paste occur. This is a normal process and means that a repaste will eventually be inevitable.

More often than not, repasting the core fixes the condition you are experiencing.

If repasting doesn't help you have a bad fan, faulty fan controller on the card, or a vbios issue.
