I just got my whole system put together with the new hydro copper installed. My temps are, well, awful...... Playing The Division 2, my GPU temp goes up over 70°C in about 5 min of gameplay. All at stock settings.

So I took off the block and it looks like I needed more thermal paste, so I added it and put it all back together, and the temps didn't change. Should I pull it all the way apart, clean it and apply a big glob of thermal paste? I used kryonaut thermal paste. Also what is the point if the square bracket? It doesn't seem to serve a purpose? It does not pull the GPU closer to the cold plate....... Can I just not use it? Help please!?!

Did you install the GPU Bracket (square bracket) with the Black Side Facing the PCB?
Without it you can crush or damage the GPU Die.

Yes black side is facing the PCB. I just dont see the point of the bracket, its just clamping the PCB, not the block to the GPU

It is used to keep from Damaging the GPU Die.
Without it, it can Destroy your Graphics Card.

Gotcha (I now see that on your last post) at this point is it just an issue of needing more thermal paste? I didn't use what was supplied as I know kryonaut is quality stuff. Is it ok to over apply?

Spread it on the GPU Die and On the Water Block and then reinstall the Water Block.

Thanks I'll give it a try tonight, that has to be the issue. The water temp isn't that hot as I'm running a 360 and a 240 rad both 35mm thick, and fans at 85%. CPU sits at about 40°C under load and 36°C at idle

How is the Flow Rate of your Coolant?
70°C is Way to Hot for your Card with the Hydro Copper Water Block.
    55°C - 60°C for the High and and a MAX of 65°C
For me it would be 45°C - 50°C for the High and and a MAX of 55°C

I do not have a flow meter, but I can say I have D5 pump and it's running at 85% and that churns the reservoir quite a bit and it's nearly full (80mm tall resorvoir. The occasional micro bubbles flow faster than I can follwo

Looks like the repaste worked, I was able to keep the card connected to my custom loop since I used flexible line and have lots of slack. I applied the past with a credit card on the block and the GPU. Needless to say I can't get over 50°c now! Thanks. (I also really tightened down the screws this time)

This card rips when it's cooled right! Had me worried that I just dropped $$$ to do a custom loop (pretty much for the GPU) for nothing. Thanks guys!

Looks like I may have spoke too soon... After playing The Division 2, the card got back up to 62°C. The room was at about 28°C. And the card is overclocked to 2055 (highest stable overclock) I couldn't get it over 2055 with the hybrid set up either. I'm thinking my temps are ok and my rooms just hot at this point.

I do, however I live in Arizona, and the outside temp is already in the 100's so the house heats up fast. And Air conditioning is expensive so I do what I can to mitigate the electrical bill by running a high temp in the house (you acclamate over time)

I took out the card one more time and really wrenched on the backplate screws and temps are a little more stable. Im gonna chalk it up to high ambient temps and my card is now normal haha

Sadly, no. I don't live in the high desert. I live in Yuma, which I'm certain is the closest state to the sun. Right now it gets into the 70's at night (when I say night I mean 78°F at 0530, just before the sun rises) In the summer it doesn't get below 100 at night, ever.

Man.. if I were you I'd have a car radiator hooked up to the system! Atleast a 5 pack of 480 rads and a cheap box fan to keep it as close to room temp as possible.

4 pump block to keep the water flowing fast hehe.

Used one of those before. ;)

How come theirs no basements in Arizona? Cooler below ground.

In Michigan we get to deal with heat and high humidity. But it's short summers.

Where we are at it is mostly sand, for at least 20 feet down, and it's fine sand, which is not ideal for basements. The ground also gets very hot. The tap water in the summer comes out at about 100-120 on full cold. Upside to this hell hole is it's cheap, cheap, cheap to live here. And the winter and spring are 65-70 and it's the sunniest place on Earth 4,015 hours of sunlight a year.
