I've had my home page set and ready for the $999 2080 Ti Black for a month now. I finally got the notification today that it's available and see the price jumped to $1099. What's up with that?

Shady practices. I was ready to give them a hard earned $1000, but not an extra $100 because they got greedy.

It's probably not worth buying right now anyway with all the unstable/artifact issues anyway.  I'm on my first RMA card and still very concern as I still see some lockup/BSOD time to time even though I checked and swapped out multiple parts including a brand new PSU.  Only time will tell if it's going to start artifacting soon or not.  My first card started artifacting after 1 week of problem free use.

Just go to Nvidia official 20xx forum and it's flooded with people reporting issues.  Some are on their 4th RMA card.

And no I run them stock because of the known issue and don't want to introduce anything that can potentially speed up the process.

Yeah I was going to say artifacts mean it's unstable. I wonder if anyone tried down clocking the card to see if that alleviated it. Just as a process of elimination.

In any case, I won't spend over a grand on a GPU. My 1080 Ti handles 3440x1440p nearly perfectly.

Honestly, Nvidia needs competition. We can only hope that AMD gets past whatever hurdles they are encountering and finally force Nvidia to lower prices.

$999 for a 2080 TI was a steal compared to everyone else where they're $1300 or more typically.  $1100 is still a good deal, if you can manage to actually order one and it keeps running.  So far I'm 0 for 2 on working 2080 TI's, they might just be raising prices so they can pay for all the RMA's due to 2080 TI chips dying or RAM or whatever the problem is.

$1100 for any GPU is not a "good deal." You're just used to the way Nvidia does business now. I remember when an x80 series card was still, at most, $500-600ish.

Now we're all "yeah what a sick deal it's *only* $999!"

Nvidia is garbage nowadays. I'm going to sit on my 1080Ti a while. Hopefully, Intel and AMD come out with something that allows me to jump ship from Nvidia. Plus, their CEO is d-bag, what an arrogant a-hole.

I don't know why anyone would buy a 2080Ti now unless they have nothing else to spend their money on. Anything over 800 bucks for a gaming GPU is insane and giving in to NVIDIA and paying these price tags will only stimulate them to increase MRSP for future generations of GPUs. You can get a mined 1080Ti for like 400-500 bucks. I got two in fact and with the latest December 2018 driver have perfect scaling in SLI, stable time frames and they outperform a 2080Ti by far for half the price (although you need a 8700/9700/9900K to avoid bottlenecking).

I initially was waiting for a 2080Ti FTW3 Hybrid but I'm not touching it at these prices. They can increase them all they want, trade tariffs or not, I'm waiting for the next gen and AMD's 7nm this year. This launch is just a rip off and a test to see how many people will pay thousands of dollars to have an extra 20 FPS in their games.

The 20 series has been the biggest GPU fail in as long as I can remember. Then, add the new tariffs and wow.

Maybe by the time the tariffs hit in March the prices will have come down a bit.

Rumors originally were said that the production costs to build these GPUs were really high and the yields weren't so great so who knows tbh.  We'll never know unless someone leaks classified info. lol

Think it is a bad call and kind of funny. Someone in the meeting says "Hey lets raise the price on products we do not have in stock".

Same here, I was ready to get one and the price goes up $100. Maybe Bitcoin prices are killing EVGA too.

Re: 2080 Ti Black Price Increased? 2019/01/11 15:42:31 (permalink)
I have been doing the same thing, but it gave me time to think, and make more educated decision.
I ended up getting the RTX2080 XC2 Ultra in a bundle with 850 PSU and saved a ton.
becuase I will be gaming at 1080P for a while. I couldn't justify 10-25 FPS for the extra cash of the TI I really don't need.
Plus I'm staying with 5930K for a while longer as well.

Especially now that Freesync monitors will work G-Sync in a couple of days.
and the ones I'm getting are actually on the list of certified to work with g-sync

Oh dear , price increased just made this non A chip video card a do not buy it :/ , better pay a little more for a Founders edition directly from nvidia store $1,199US + free shipping + 2 free games and good customer support rma. Tariffs have not been implemented yet on the US so i wonder why such a massive increase in price all across all the RTX evga cards ?
