I am trying to do some Black Friday Christmas shopping for my son and I am trying to choose between the 2080 FTW3 or the 2080Ti Black. It is only a $100 difference, but to make the decision even more difficult is that the former is in stock and who knows when the latter will be in stock again. I know neither are a great value, but the price of the 1080 Tis has not dropped enough (even used). Thoughts?

2080ti all day. Just order and think no more about it. Though waiting for a ftw3 2080ti would be awesome as it would cool better but hard to find.. prob more in next week but small window to catch it if it does come in like minutes.
:/ 1080ti would own as well but buying used is a gamble unless it's a evga card undamaged with original cooler to keep the warranty intact.. should ask how much time is left on the warranty as well as it will transfer over to you.

I've been trying to find some 1440p EVGA 2080ti black benchmarks but they aren't around yet.
I'd like to see the difference in performance between the 2080ti FE and the cheaper 2080ti black model. To get a idea of how the cheaper 2080ti performs.
While I agree that the lowest clocked 2080ti black will be faster than the highest clocked 2080, I feel like at that point that difference would be pretty slight, maybe 10-15% max.

First of all, you are not going to see that $999 2080 Ti in stock for that price any time soon. And second of all, there is a HUGE difference in performance between any 2080 and any 2080Ti. And there will NOT be much difference in performance between models of 2080Tis. The black edition card for $999 will perform close to the more expensive versions. It might not clock as high but we are talking very small difference.
I know you are basing this on price, but you cannot expect to see a 2080 Ti in stock for $999. It's not going to happen for a long time, maybe never. You have to base you decision on the $1199 price point. You will find those in stock at some point we hope.
Of course if you actual choices were $899 for 2080 and $999 for 2080Ti you definitely take the 2080Ti. But those are not your choices and won't be any time soon. If you are serious about a 2080Ti you have to think $1199 at the cheapest. And even that is a pipe dream right now.
If you are looking to spend under a grand and plan on getting the card sometime in 2018, your only choice will be 2080.

XC black edition is in stock, I just picked it up for $1150. Spec wise I can't tell why its $150 more than the black, but I got it anyway. Knowing my luck the $999 2080ti will be in stock again soon.

I was in gmail and saw the auto notification pop up in front of my very eyes (last night/EST), that the 2080 ti black was finally available.
Followed link and added it to cart. Went to checkout to add credit card info, and it disappeared as 0 stock....
The waiting (milking) game continues. Ughh.....

All depends on the game titles but the FTW 3 should be ahead by a few FPS. Not a huge difference for the price difference imho but that is up to the user's budget as well.
