Signed up... a little late because I've just replaced my 3x GTX660 Ti's for a GTX980 Ti and didn't know my PPD yet.

Please sign up for your own time zone, because Troy wants to test a different concept this year (based on population number in each time zone) and test it as secondary competition to see if this might work better in future TZC's.

Folding Rig: Lian-Li PC-P50 | Corsair HX850 | MSI 890FXA-GD70 | AMD X4-965 BE | GTX980 Ti SC & GTX1070 SC

I'm glad you came to your senses. Us Eastern Juggernauts need to stick together if we're to stand a chance against those Philistines in the Central timezone!

Shifttfreeride
A quick look at the figures from those that have signed up already show that Central is set to almost produce as many points as all other groups combined --

Central - 11,710,000
Eastern - 6,055,000
Mountain - 4,710,000
Pacific - 1,305,000
Other - 1,020,000

If it doesn't even out by the time the contest is ready to get underway, feel free to remove me or place me in my own category to make the contest more fair for everyone.

If my history is correct, Central won the first two TZC but hasn't won since...is this their year to reclaim their former glory?!?  Will Eastern be able to rally and remain TZC winners? Or will Mountain or Pacific have a late surge to put them atop the leader board?

Predictions are all well and good, but the winner is determined once the gauntlet drops and the points start being collected.  Those of us that have been around a while know that inevitably issues will arise, power will go out, and hardware will fail etc...

To quote Yogi Berra, "It ain't over 'til it's over". Anything can happen. I've been on a team in Battlefield 3 more than once where we were up by 600 points or more and still managed to lose the round. May the best team win. In the end everybody wins with all of the WU we will be producing. Yay team!

Question about Gift Donations for the TZC...

What is acceptable in terms of older equipment??

I have some Xeon CPU's..... E55xx series,
Laptop ram from my Alienware M11,
AMD FX8150 CPU,
EVGA GTX760 x2,

All these are just sitting around doing nothing, probably thrown out eventually.
No original packaging, but all 100% working.

There really are no guide lines that I know of. It is whatever you are comfortable with giving. Everything you listed could possible help someone if not for folding then for fun. Some members can't afford the latest and greatest, and the gifts you mentioned just maybe an upgrade.... :)

Really anything can be offered up as a prize.  In the past there have been items such as old hardware, new hardware, gift cards, video games, t-shirts, mugs, even mystery prizes.  A general rule of thumb is anything that someone else may find useful or entertaining...

  • Thanks to notfordman for taking on the challenge of coordinating the recruitment effort for this year's TZC.  The more people we get involved the more fun the contest becomes so if you have any ideas to bring participants to the contest you are encouraged to pursue them or let him know about them.  If you would like to help out but aren't sure how shoot notfordman a PM and I'm sure he can find someway to help get more people involved.

Steve, I think that any of those things would be great.
I would personally have my eye on the z87 board ;)

So I found a nice little surprise when I got home today:  even down 1 GTX 590 my 4.5 year old gaming rig Baharroth is still outputting 100k ppd with a little help from my cpu.  I love these core 18 WUs!!  Now if only I can get the RMA completed before the challenge all will be set for a Central Victory!

U hope to have the other 5960x online with the 960. It would help the ppd a little bit at least.

Go Central for the win!
What do you guys think about moving the folders from the winning team to other teams to get every team to the goal?

I know this is not computer related,
But I have a brand new in box Philips Prestigo programmable remote.

Would this be a valid Gift Donation???

I like that idea. It would save us all money on electricity when you think about it.

Sure hope the repairman gets here today my AC is down and can't fold without it due to overheat problems.
Who ever picked this time of the year gets a big thank you from me, a lot better than the heat of summer!

While somewhat unrelated to the challenge, any idea what I can do with these cards of mine as far as taking them over stock?

I haven't played around with that at all, and I hear Maxwell OCs nicely.

I Fold at 1500 MHz on my Core Clock. The Memory Clock will run at default no matter what you set it at in Afterburner or PrecisionX.

I've been thinking that some EVGA T-shirts would make a nice prize too. The store seems to be running out of stock though. Only a few sizes are available right now. Maybe a special edition T-shirt for this competition could be in the works?

How to you ever decide which one to drink? [drooling].
Meanwhile back at the Time Zone Challenge, the promise of a limited edition "Time Zone Challenge" T-shirt would attract a lot of additional Folders. In order to qualify you would need to keep Folding to the finish. No exceptions or excuses accepted! Folders would be flocking to EVGA for the competition.
