mwparrish stevemr2t Judging by some of the FPS I think the score would have been a killer! :) I wouldn't count on it. Those tests only used about 5x% of 1 480 each time I run the test. The other 480 I have just sits idle. Vantage or the drivers might preclude full use of the hardware in the system for PhysX processing. Ditto. PhysX test only uses one card at a bout 55-56%. Makes you wonder...

PhysX is limited to running on a single GPU, has been this way since Day 1 for GPU PhysX acceleration. Not sure about the synthetic benches and such, but at least in games and in this case, synthetic benchmark that is supposed to mimic a game.

I think he means the overall score, unless I'm missing something.... And if he does mean overall score, I also bet it would've been killer, since the rest of the benchmark uses all 4 GPU's.

You are correct Sir, I was referring to the overall score. I was observing 20-30% faster FPS on each of the graphics tests vs the 3way SLI. I just couldn't get to the end to complete the score.

Honestly, I wouldn't be so sure that it's a driver issue. Are you still having motherboard issues?? I can remember when *my* 4-way SLI board did the same thing, couldn't overclock anything or I would get weird things going on, including crashes like you are experiencing. I'd wait to start testing 4-way until you get that board replaced.

stevemr2tI reinstalled Vantage and the drivers again and managed to get to the biplane test, that is when vantage crashed and said something about a PHYSX component missing. Makes me wonder if the drivers might not yet be 100% 4 Way SLI ready... Folks, please don't forget - If you're installing the Dark Void demo to test the PhysX on your new cards, it installs something called the nVidia Gaming System software. If this is the case, these are the very symptoms displayed when you run any PhysX-supported app. It directly borks the "missing" .dll. Uninstall it from the Programs and Features panel, then right-click on the PhysX install and choose Repair, For some of you throwing in a second, non-400 card for PhysX testing, also remember that the best approach is to install the driver software with all of the hardware in place and not to simply stick the card in the slot and fire things up. You can try to repair the PhysX package first and see if it works. I don't know about the -.55, as I'm just finding out about them and I don't yet have a card, but one thing you could try before you break WHQL with an .inf mod is the stand-alone PhysX installation. Of course, if your secondary's not even being recognized, then the logic of that approach falls all to crap and back. In that case, I might try the site-recommended procedure of simply applying the new install over an earlier copy - without the driver sweeper, etc.. It's usually a whole lot safer going forward with an update than rolling back anyway...

IMO, running four GTX480s is a complete waste of money for now. Maybe these latest drivers will change what the initial benchmarks showed that running four GTX480s actually scored lower in some benchmarks versus 3-way SLI or only marginally better, which didn't justify spending another $500+ for that fourth card. But, if bragging rights is what you want, then by all means buy four GTX480s and don't forget to upgrade to at least a 1500 watt power supply I love my three GTX480s and did not have to upgrade my existing PSU
