Camera settings are definitely not the culprit here.

Wow they sold you what is almost an anodized finish yet delivered a painted finish.

Got my FTW3 white today. Look beast and the matte white color matched my build perfectly. There is a small damage on the shroud but i guess i can live with it. i wont see it anyways inside my case.

I know you waited which seems like forever, I get it! Mine comes (black version) Friday, I'm geeked! But, I gotta ask.... Could you live with a dent or scratch on your new car from the showroom?

There should be zero damage on the card. Please contact EVGA tech support.

Yes because in the future if you need to RMA and they see damage, they can say "the card was dropped"

Look at the fans in all the pictures, the "original gpu" fans are dark, little light and what light their is is soft. The fans on the "what we got" are bleached out with intense lighting, along with the color. I think it's a difference in lighting from when the pictures were taken.
 
The only one I can say for sure is wrong, is blue. There is more than just lighting difference for it. Anyways, just thought I'd mention all the black fans on the originals are dark/different light source on them. See ya! 

The original pictures looked like the cards had a metallic finish, or at least an anodized coating, which diffuses light differently than a glossy or matte finish no matter the camera settings used.  The user pictures we've seen so far look like they're a simple gloss finish that anyone can do themselves.  Big difference, and I'd be pissed even if the shade of the color matched.

I dont think "The original pictures" were pictures, I'm pretty sure they were renders made on a computer. Renders would have a variation of color compared to true pictures and end products.

If that's true,then that should have never happened. I was wondering about that Scarlet, the red did look rendered. I thought they looked anodized myself from the first look. Quite a big difference from sales page to product received.

Why shouldnt it happen? They needed to put out an idea to see what people wanted. I wish the end product would have been much closer to color matching, but renders are often used to get the idea out until a product is in hand.

Sure they were most likely renders, but that is not an excuse to be so far off. Specifically the blue and red cards. As I said before if you were buying a car that showed you that color in a render, you sure as hell would be pissed about it coming out a completely different shade. There is no reason for them to not have made them as close to the renders as possible. Heck we are talking about a metallic paint job vs a matte one, that alone is a huge difference in appearance.
 
I'm sorry but you can't put out products that are designed to get people to buy them based solely on the color and then not be surprised when people complain when they results are dramatically different. And I'm not saying that they don't look nice, they do (not as much as before though) but they are different enough to not match a color scheme anymore. I had thought about getting the red one myself for a future red/black build I'm planning, but the one that came out would not fit with what I was planning.

I was set to order the blue SC version tomorrow (payday) based on the original color shown.  After seeing the true color O_O that’s’ not happening. I am glad I did not pre-order one!

I wonder what 3d software they used. If it were Maya, 3ds max, zbrush, blender, what have you, changing it to be more accurate would only take a few minutes.

If let's say whoever was incharge of creating the renders did not have an actual model to work from, and thus did not have all the information, then I could see there being some discrepancy.

But at the same time it was clear from the standard FTW3 that there was a grainy texture with a more matte specularity. So they should have at least updated the renders to be more accurate before people started placing build orders.

Just to be clear, I'm not blaming whoever made the renders. I don't know their circumstances, they may not have had a real reference to work from. Or the software may have limited the level of detail needed to show a realistic representation.

EVGA should learn from this mistake.

Has anybody who has gotten a blue or red one and has not been satisfied actually contacted EVGA (and by contact, I mean call them or send an email)? I don't think they will do a PA about it. Likely it will be on a per-customer basis.

It looks like to me that the original picts from evga had aluminum shrouds with the paint being metallic colors without the flecks, where as what you got was a shroud that is made of plastic with base acrylic colors. I sure hope that isn't the case and you still have a alum shroud at least. The original colors they advertised were def much better though. I say that even though I really hate the shroud entirely anyway.

Does the fan and shroud hang off the end of the card like in that picture?
Not sure I like that so much, a wire could get hit by the fan on the back side and bust off a blade it pull a wire off the board.
