I don't have mine yet but that's a 17% overclocking result from the boost clock. To me that would be more then satisfactory. From what I have seen that is a good Oc. What's your memory Oc @?

I've managed 2038 on the core haven't really pushed it or the memory much.
Great airflow in my system with an aggressive fan profile. I wear headphones
so noise is a non issue. Max temps last night while gaming was around 50c
The air conditioner sits 2 foot away lolz

mine crashes heaven valley at max settings over: pwr 120%/+75 mhz/+800 mem(A)  seems to not like seeing anything over 2050 there but it'll get thru superposition 4k at : pwr 120%/+75 mhz/+830(B) mem

update: destiny 2 is running 50-60fps at native 4k (4096 × 2160) on highest settings under (A), crashes under (B)

I'm running a Hydro Copper which is basically the same board and mine will only do 2025 before puking. Granted, it's puking at 50-55C but still, that's as far as I can push mine.

I settled on 2025 after extensive playing testing thats the magic number for my card anyway. GL

Finally the black edition thread for the 1080ti SC - where have you been all my life lol

I got my card OCd just recently with the following:

    GPU voltage: Max
    Power Target: 120%
    Max GPU Clock: 2050mhz
    MAX Mem Clock: 5900mhz
Max temp: 76c (running superposition benchmark - results below)

Would you consider 76c too high? I saw a nice return of 10-20 fps in GTA 5 too.

It would have been less painful had you just shot me in the leg bro lol

That explains the in-game HWinfo64 reading of 1800mhz/1900mhz as 'current' and 2050mhz as MAX. I was wandering why it wasn't sticking and with my magic noobish thought mechanism, assumed it was some sort of adaptive setting based on my adaptive Bios/Windows power plan loool. Then again, overall I was getting better FPS regardless, not a mile of a difference but hanging around 10-20 fps. ermmm might have to double check as I may have overlooked the drop when exceeding 60c. I definitely picked off better benchmark scores on Unigine and superposition - maybe the temporary draw of max clock made the difference - i dunno.

Ahhh just when you think you got the world under your feet someone slaps you in the face and then you wake up lol Nah JK, learning how to OC for the first time has been a buzz of its own. Even at 76c max, I was considering leaving it at stock (max temps under 70c) for the long run unless I was dropping under 60fps (1440p) on preferred settings in current games.

Yeah, mine does not throttle at 60c. And the GN review of the 1080 Ti FE doesn't say 60c, it says 84c. And that 60c number is speculative, and the 1070 Ti review says "the thermal numbers were not conducted scientifically, they are spot-checks used to check for clock dropping; some numbers were collected between crashes, and therefore are lower".

Differences in boost you see are based on the boost level currently required to maintain a level of performance and/or temperature or power limit. The only way you can see the effect of thermals on your clock speeds is to measure both across an extended stress test at different levels of overclock. Otherwise there isn't enough data to make a conclusion.

    He said downclock, not throttle.

You have a misunderstanding of how GPU boost works to not realise that with pascal your clocks drop early (from a low temp) I actually think it starts in the 40's, somewhere. It definitely doesn't take until 60c.

Any temp past 60'C makes the GPU Downclock.

As far as mine, both of my SC Blacks stock with power target on max hit 1972, I can OC them to 2025 but no real issue and haven't fine tuned the OC sense the stock GPU Boost is plenty.

I finally got around to playing GTA 5 for an hour or so at a mix of ULTRA/VERY HIGH settings (MSAA X4). G-SYNC activated on a 1440p RES display stocking at 144hz. I was easily getting an average of 110-140fps

    GPU temps: 73c-77c
GPU clock: 2025mhz (occasional drop to 2012mhz and rare max of 2050mhz)

I take it, even if the card downclocks at 60c, the OC still has a sizeable impact in added clock speeds at higher temps above 60?

I have just gotten a SC Black, from Microcenter.  It wont OC at all, have even had it crash in Heaven and BF4 with just power set to 120% and ZERO overclocks.  Runs cool, 68-70'c.  Waiting for Microcenter to get more so i can hopefully get a better card.

    That sucks

Are your GPU drivers fully up to date? I had a couple of problems when i first started out too. I downloaded DDU for a clean uninstall and then downloaded the GPU driver again....solved the issue!

Other issues were related to CAM and Teamviewer. When running games or running benchmark tests I would occasionally crash. Took a long time to realise these 2 apps were the culprits and I was blaming my card. If you are running either of these apps, close them in the system tray and try the OC again. If you are running teamviewer, you will need to open task manager and exit some of the other accompanied teamviewer processes.

Maybe check if the power connectors are correctly seated too from both ends, PSU and GPU. For an estimated 580w system, I purchased the 650w PSU. Then realised the ''power efficiency" margins with all PSU's. My led lights would occasionally lose their bright spark and my HD would make some odd noises occasionally. I swapped out the 650w for a 850w from EVGA. Now everything works PERFECT! Maybe check your power set up?

If your card crashes with just a power target increase, it is defective and should be returned/RMA'ed.

kbajaj10, i agree but Microcenter has not received any 1070 up cards in stock since the day i purchased this 1080ti sc black, and really dont want to RMA through EVGA because i will receive a "used/refurbished" card.

Well microcenter got a SC black in stock.  Exchanged the card, and the new card is crashing when on youtube.  Starts with video freeze, cant ctrl, alt, del.  then the mouse freezes, and have to hard reset pc

Did you try a clean install of drivers using DDU before exchanging?
I had some similar issues and was very close to exchanging my card too. Worked out, it was a driver issue.

Well microcenter got a SC black in stock.  Exchanged the card, and the new card is crashing when on youtube.  Starts with video freeze, cant ctrl, alt, del.  then the mouse freezes, and have to hard reset pc

Do you know the serial number range for these cards that you got? I have a nagging suspicion that the recent batches of SC Blacks are no good and need to be recalled.

Today I came up with the EVGA GTX 1080 TI SC BE ICX, and during the tests I found by measuring (CPU-Z, CPUI Monitor, AIDA) that the card runs without overlkocking !!!!! in core load at 1950MHz (max.1987), temperatures so far below 70 ° C .... is it ok ???? (google translator)

    Yes.

So it's great, the card is also extremely quiet ... I'm really complacent
