[EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING 11G-P4-6696-KR | iCX Technology] Windows 10 Pro x64 v1903 ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E i7-8700K | G.Skill DDR4 3200 16GB (2x 8GB) Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 750w a couple of weeks ago my EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING starting having problems running games and some benchmarks. prior to this there has been no problems. the last week i have tried at least 8 different games. all startup "normally", no popup errors, no extended load times, etc. some crash after splash screens, some crash during opening menus, some crash a few minutes into play. always a quick and easy crash to desktop for them all. some of the games themselves produce crash or error logs in their own directories but i get no crash/error messages onscreen from Windows. none of them ever caused the GPU or CPU to pass 65°C. none of the GPU usage percentages seem to be out of normal range. first, i uninstalled Precision XOC and Nvidia Control Panel. ran DDU and removed everything possible. restarted again and did a clean install of latest Nvidia Display and PhysX drivers. ticked "Debug Mode" in Nvidia Control Panel and tried running the games again. same issue(s) persist. next, i reseated GPU into slot and reseated all internal system cables making sure everything is plugged in properly. ran malware/virus scans. ran Memtest and disk checks with no problem. reinstalled Windows. tried enabling the executable Compatibility option "disable fullscreen optimizations" on a couple of the games. same issue persists. my plan later today is to try updating and/or reverting to a different motherboard BIOS and seeing if it may have an effect. do not think the BIOS has been changed recently though so I doubt this has any correlation.

including a couple of the game error/crash logs, hoping someone may be able to find some correlation between them. Try returning your CPU to stock clocks and try again. Hard to determine the source of anything if you're testing with an overclocked system. Regardless of the systems previously "stable" settings capacitors age and degrade what once was stable may no longer be.

Check your ram for errors by running memtest86 for a few passes.

Regardless of the systems previously "stable" settings capacitors age and degrade what once was stable may no longer be. just this afternoon have tried running same scenarios with a borrowed RX570. no issues with games crashing whatsoever. so the CPU or other system settings have nothing to do with it. obviously it is the EVGA 1080 Ti causing the issue. will be starting an RMA in the next day or so.

Could also be your PSU failing under load. An RX570 isn't going to put anywhere near the load a GTX1080Ti does. Try running your card in another system and see if the problem persists.

Before your RMA, some quick question. When did you do Win 10 1903 update? When's the last time you did the Nvidia driver update? Were either or both of those about the time these problems started happening? Did your .NET also recently update any time recently? I typically wait quite a while before doing the big Win10 updates (like 1809 or 1903) as well as Nvidia driver updates (like most recent 436.30) in order to get well past any of the compatibility/drivers issues that typically pop up with/between Win10 updates and graphics drivers updates. Not sure if any one of these (or combo; 1903, Nvidia driver, .NET update) could contributing to your issues. Just asking b/c it does not sound like you have a hardware issue. No necessarily related, but when you install Nvidia drivers, do you typically do custom install and "uncheck" the Nvidia HD audio driver? The reason I'm asking is that the Realtek audio driver for your mobo (I have the same mobo) can sometimes conflict with Nvidia's HD audio driver (or perhaps it's the other way around). Not sure if this could also be contributing to your issue, but it could be. The "fix" is simple to not run both HD audio drivers together. DDU, then reinstall Nvidia driver using custom settings and only install the graphics driver & PhysX (uncheck HD audio driver and Geforce Experience). This may be worth a try--if nothing else can eliminate a potential contributing factor that is known. P.S. The "exception access violation" errors above are associated with game engine errors/issues which happen to be associated with Nvidia GPUs (and not AMD GPUs). Which is why when you switched to AMD GPU, the crashes went away. That said, this does not mean that there is anything wrong with your EVGA GPU (e.g. does not indicate a hardware problem). These are game engine error messages associated with memory leaks--and specific games/game engines are more susceptible (Witcher 3 and Pillars of Eternity being among the list). Which means that your conclusion that "CPU or other system settings have nothing to do with it" is not accurate. Which also means you could RMA your GPU and get a perfectly good EVGA 1080Ti and pop it in and still have the same problem. As such, I agree with CraptacularOne on some troubleshooting steps--starting with setting GPU, CPU, & RAM to stock settings (e.g. not overclocked). Need to eliminate these setting as contributing factors to game engine errors. This is also why I asked about Win10 1903 update and Nvidia driver updates ... trying to figure out what may have changed "a couple weeks ago" that could have "triggered" this issue (not necessarily caused it but is the trigger to generating the game engine error). Food for thought.

P.P.S. Have you tried: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecn6TIHZ2P4 ... to fix potentially corrupted Witcher 3 installation or update? And what resolution are you playing at?

Check out post "1080Ti FTW3 crash" @ https://forums.evga.com/1080Ti-FTW3-crash-m2988127.aspx Slomo's repost of RazoR84 post stating "Same issues. Random Crashes after I start games. Short screen freezes. First crashes in Apex Legends later also games like Rainbow Six crashed immediately after it launched to the main menu. I managed to eliminate the problem tho. I went into Precision X1 and activated the Boost lock in the bottom right corner. It fixed my problem instantly I have no explanation though how this fixed the problem." Not sure if this (activating Boost Lock" will help you ... can't hurt ... worth a try.
