This is my first ever video card so I'm learning everything for the first time. I installed the 1050 Ti back in mid Jan. '17 in a brand new Lenovo IdeaCentre 710-25ISH and just recently I installed a Blu-ray runner and noticed there was an accumulation of dust resting on the fan blades as if the blades weren't turning. I just ran a game on Steam (Mad Max on max settings) the card got to 95-98 degrees Celsius according to EVGA Precision X OC and at that point I put the gamepad down took the side panel off to see if the fan was turning and it was not. The room temp was 70-72*f my monitor resolution and refresh rate are 1080 60Hz, K boost off This info I'm giving is because I read it in EVGA GTX 1070 SC high temperature issue post number 2 posted by Cool GTX.

That isnt good. Have you turned the fans on manually, and set them to 80% or anything just to verify of they are working?
I would also check to make sure the fan cable is plugged in. Remove the card and look near the pci bracket to make sure the cable isnt uplugged.
Please post your model number as well (not serial number).

"Please post your model number as well (not serial number)." Of the video card? It's an Extended Graphics Array Giga Texel eXtreme 1050 Titanium or as they call it in short EVGA GTX 1050 Ti. Yes I have turned the fans on manually and still it doesn't spin. "I would also check to make sure the fan cable is plugged in." I have thought of doing this.

Oh yes sorry to much coffee. 04G-P4-6251-KR the reference card. Edit: And a little perturbed the fan isn't working I wasn't thinking, really sorry I answered that way. Should I go ahead and contact EVGA customer support?

I would take a glance at the fan cable before contacting them. Just make sure it is fully seated and give it a test.
If that doesnt work, make sure your card is registered and then open a support ticket in the "my products" page, and they can help you out.

Okay I just turned off the computer took out the card and looked and it is plugged in. I also put the Precision X OC costume settings fan curve all points at 80% and still the fan turning. Edit: Yes, I registered the card the day I installed it.

Hello, I apologize for the fan issues as well as any confusion with our RMA system. I see you currently have an open Standard RMA for your product. Simply follow the instructions in the RMA approval email to send your product into EVGA. Once we receive your product we will ship out the replacement within 1-3 business days as well as provide you with UPS tracking information. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

I do have a question. The EVGA support tech I talked to over the phone said something about getting a new 1050 Ti now installing it and than sending in my currant 1050 Ti and than getting refunded when they get the one with the fan issue. What are the details about this process... where would I purchase the new 1050 Ti from EVGA? Edit: What are the chances this could be an power issue? The stock power supply is a 250 watts and in no way can it upgraded, it has a proprietary 10 pin motherboard power connector.

Hello, I believe you are referring to the Cross Ship RMA type. If you would like to cancel and submit another RMA as a cross ship please call our support at any time 888-881-3842. As for the issue being related to your low wattage power supply, that would be difficult to say. It very well could be. Do you have a friends system with a larger wattage power supply you could test your card in?

After a little research I found that Lenovo has the same make IdeaCentre 710-25ISH model 90FB0001US I have with 250w PSU that has a factory installed NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB model 90FB000BUS. The model I have ha-ha came with a GT 730 2GB DDR3. So the PSU is not the issue. I think I do need to cancel and submit another RMA and do a cross ship.

Not questioning the dead fan ( and you should continue with the RMA) but it shouldn't be possible for any current NVidia GPU to run at 98c without you noticing as it will drop down to the lowest frequency possible (which is around 135MHz). Are you sure the 98c reading is correct? Does the fan move at all (twitch) when you cold boot the computer? Did you install a vBIOS from another card by some chance? Uninstall all graphics utilities (including EVGA's stuff), uninstall Nvidia's drivers, then reinstall Nvidia's drivers with the "Perform a clean installation" checkbox checked. After which try NVIDIA Inspector or GPU-Z to check the temps. Edit, fixed sentence: "when you turn on the cold boot the computer" should be "when you cold boot the computer"

Q&A with Quad5Ny Q: Not questioning the dead fan (and you should continue with the RMA) but it shouldn't be possible for any current NVidia GPU to run at 98c without you noticing as it will drop down to the lowest frequency possible (which is around 135MHz).A: I had noticed FPS drops and yes frequency lowering but as I said at the beginning of this thread "This is my first ever video card so I'm learning everything for the first time." I don't know enough yet to know what's normal. Edit: Also, I had not downloaded EVGA Precision X OC for over a month after installing the card I was hesitant to do so I don't want to overclock and why I got the reference card 1050 Ti (04G-P4-6251-KR). Q: Are you sure the 98c reading is correct? Does the fan move at all (twitch) when you turn on the cold boot the computer? A: Yes, the temp showed 95-99*c on Precision X OC. No, the fan doesn't twitch or move at all unless I use my finger. I don't know cold boot though? Q: Did you install a vBIOS from another card by some chance?A: No. Edit2: I will never mess with any BIOS again. I had a four year old Lenovo H430 I fist tried to install the 1050 into but it wouldn't recognize so I called both EVGA and Lenovo and they both asked me if I had tried to updating the BIOS on the motherboard. So I found the BIOS on Lenovo's support page specifically for that PC's downloaded it initiated the process and it did errase the ROM chip but didn't flash the new one... so wary of ever doing that again as I bricked the last PC. Edit4: This was back in January... it's been a fun year for me so far? Q: Uninstall all graphics utilities (including EVGA's stuff), uninstall Nvidia's drivers, then reinstall Nvidia's drivers with the "Perform a clean installation" checkbox checked. After which try NVIDIA Inspector or GPU-Z to check the temps.A: I don't know anything about this? This is not something I am willing to do at this time. Edit4: I have Speccy to use alternatively to EVGA's software and I really only want to use EVGA software. Edit3: The 1050 still functions I using right now I only have one PC.

Should I try to rollback to the first NIVDA driver 376.33 I was using when I installed the card? Edit: I really think this is a 1050 hardware issue and not a software problem or the PC it self. ? . Edit2: I was born in 1976.. I have seen a lot of electronic devices come and go in my lifetime.

Any way you can test that card in another computer fast? that 1050 Ti under load should be about 50-60C max full or even cooler. Just used one temporarily while I waited for a new card. I would just Cross-RMA it or pull of the shroud and makes sure the fan is connected. Drivers won't help to much - seeing its already being detected.. Do you have another PCI-E Slot you can try?

Q: Any way you can test that card in another computer fast? A: Unfortunately I only own one PC and not know a single person I am willing to take their PC apart to run this current 1050 Ti in. I don't think they would be receptive to the idea either. Q: that 1050 Ti under load should be about 50-60C max full or even cooler. A: This is probably true of a 1050 Ti that the ACX 2.0 cooling solution functions properly on. acedl: Just used one temporarily while I waited for a new card. EyeDeeNo: I did cancel the Standard RMA to a change it to a Standard CrossShip RMA yesterday. I have checked already (see post #7 in this thread) to see if the fan is plugged in to the socket on the video card's board and it is plugged in but I did not pull of the shroud of the 1050 as I think that would more in likely void the warranty. Q: Do you have another PCI-E Slot you can try? A: This Lenovo IdeaCentre 710-25ISH model 90FB0001US only has a single PCIe x16 3.0. Edit: I have updated as of yesterday the Nvdia driver from 378.78 to 378.92 and checked the box for a clean install when running the installer. I always clean out the old driver after installing the new one using CClaeaner. Also updated Precision XOC from 6.0.9 to 6.1.2 and I did uninstall PXOC and removed it from the registry using CCleaner than restaring the computer to install the new. But still the fan doesn't run. Although now GeForce Experience recognize the three games I own on Steam (Portal 2, Dirt Showdown, Mad Max) that are supported but the GeForce Experience where's before the clean install GeForce Experience showed nothing. Two steps back one step forward. Update edit: I received the CrossShip and switched them yesterday, I hit the power button and the fan immediately started moving. Works as advertised. 😎I am interested about what is wrong with my original 1050 Ti ? 🤔
