A few weeks back I installed an Evga 1030 and an Evga 1060 SC 6gb card into this
old Dell T3500 workstation I have converted into a gaming box of sorts.
(It has 2 75w 16x PCI-e slots, 525w psu with 1 extra 6 pin connector.  No SLI support, and those cards fit in the case well...)

Was screwing around running various benchmarks and poking at the NV 3D settings a bit, and noticed a new option in there
I hadn't seen before.     OpenGL Rendering GPU.
(391.01 drivers.  Same as I used for the 550Ti card I had in here before the EVGA cards.)

When running the Unigine SuperPosition benchmark that came on the EVGA driver disk in opengl, 1080p med settings
with the 1030 display as primary and 1060 as the OpenGL Rendering GPU, I get more than 2x the score and FPS
as I do with the 1030 doing it all like a single card.   It also shows both cards in the SuperPosition OSD display.

1060 alone of course beats that score by quite a bit, and for some reason ignores this OpenGL Rendering GPU setting
if I try to set it to the 1030.
Although the games I run that use OpenGL WILL use the settings I put in the NV Control Panel.

GPU use is balanced better and temps stay lower if I do that, but the games stutter a bit, which is no doubt due
to either the difference in bus speeds or monitor refresh rates etc.

My questions are these:

1.   Why can't I seem to find any info anywhere about this NV OpenGL Rendering GPU option?

2.   If I got a 2nd 1060 6gb card, would this actually be useful for running OpenGL games and applications?

    1. Info is already provided in the nvidia control panel.

    2. Nope.

    Hmmm...

Well thanks for posting a pic of the NV control panel that I saw when I noticed this option.

So this option has no useful purpose at all?
Are the guys at NVidia getting paid by the hour to write these drivers?
Just stuck that in to kill some time I guess...

Not to you. To someone doing something else, yes; likely professional work like CAD, rendering, video editing, etc.

    Thanks for the replies.

@Sajin.   Sorry if I sounded a bit sarcastic in my earlier reply.

I was still a bit stunned and surprised about the lack of non-nvidia control panel info
regarding that option.   I did attempt a few google searches on it, and came up with almost nothing.
They even added it to the options you get if you right click on any application, which seems odd if it
is only useful in such a limited number of specialized applications.  (CAD/CAM etc...)

Been a while since I looked at details like this closely.   I used to overclock things back in the P3 & socket 478 HT P4 days.
My last 2 P4 systems finally had HDD issues last fall, and it was was time to upgrade anyway.

I got other EVGA cards here, most recent being a GS7800 AGP card,  and a 9400 and 8400 PCI card.
It has been a little while since I setup those systems.   Things have changed quite a bit since.

Been running these 2 new cards still at the default settings and just watching the automatic clock changes in the monitors
with interest while running various benchmarks and my antique games.
(Did set up a couple custom fan curves, but no other changes from default settings in XOC, yet...)

Very pleased with both of these things so far.   The 1060 card boost clocks generally run at 1999mhz.
Seen it hit 2012mhz at times.
Seen the 1030 card hit 1771mhz.

Is that normal for these cards, or did I get lucky?
Guess I will find out later when I get around to actually trying to overclock them a bit with the XOC.
