Hi guys, quick question. Im currently sleeving the 24 pin motherboard cable for the evga 1000w g2 and noticed all these little extra capacitors wired into some of the cables, so this brings me to my first question - are these required for the power supply to be usable? or will it mess it up if i take them out because honestly they look like theyll be an insane pain in the... to sleeve, also they will look hideous just hanging there. also, can the cables be moved around? a lot of traditional power supplies use color coded cables to signify where they go into the 24 pin connector. i guess to be more specific, can i use cable in anothers position, as long as they are in the right cable configuration as the original?

Part one, is yes you need them. They are what give the PSU it's efficiency and ripple suppression. Part two, I'm not exactly sure I understand your question.

For part 2 as long as they are the same voltage I don't think it should matter. So you will need to find a multimeter or a pinout chart for it.

They're probably eddy resistors. If you take them off you could get drops in power.

Hello, They are power filters. Removing them could cause unstable wire voltage. -Mike

K well, one of the capacitors was severed from the other cable when i looked at it when i first opened up the 24 pin cable. Luckily i have enough solder to splice it back in. Hopefully that should fix it.

soooo....can someone give me a pic or link to the mobo end of the 24 pin cable? im all ready to solder the capacitor back on but need to know which cable it goes on to, i removed all the other pins to see if i could find where it was cut from, but none of them look like the right one.

No official response from my questions asking for an individually sleeved cable kit for the G2 series so I just gave up and bought some extensions :P

Would EVGA entertain making a single sleeved modular kit just like the Corsair kit for the G2 series? I think it would be a big hit! -M

That would be nice sleeve cables for G2. Maybe not so big package as NEX1500, there have enough cables for 3 man to make SLI configuration. I think it's good 24 pin, 8pin CPU (1 or 2 maybe), 2x SATA(4), 2xMolex(4), VGA 2x (6+2pin and 6+2pin). That need most of people and other can sell separate, more VGA, more SATA, more Molex. If someone have other idea can write. Color, length, thickness, without heat srink off course, little elastic...

EVGATech_MikeF I have seen a few members mention this as well, it may be something we could offer. stay tuned -Mike Well someone had emailed me back from EVGA saying it was only the 24pin cable on the G2 series cables that differed from the NEX cable set... that's the only thing you'd need to change. Seriously take my money!

Looking EVGA site it's compatible with all NEX power supplies. If we look connectors are same but for full confirmation probably soon EVGA will answer. 1000 G2 and 1300 G2 is SuperNOVA but not NEX series.

EVGA did answer me in an email... said the 24 pin is the only thing that differs.
