So I picked 16GB of the DDR4 G.SKILL 4133ghz ram for my new z270 build on this board. If I apply the XMP profile the board won't boot with the ram set to 4133. If I clock it down to 3600 then it boots fine and I keep the voltage set at 1.35 (what the ram requires) and everything is good. Anyone found a way to get higher than 3600ghz on the z270 boards, not OC'd, the stock speed of the ram? Maybe we need to wait for a BIOS update for this?

what cpu? could be a limitation in the memory controller in the cpu.

You are guaranteed 2133MHz, any speed beyond that is a bonus. You are essentially gambling on faster RAM working. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Like mentioned, your Memory Controller may not be able to handle that speed. My RAM XMP 1 Profile is for 3200MHz, but it does not boot, so I have to use XMP 2 at 3000MHz for it to boot. (Note: Not all RAM has more than one XMP profile.)

+1 The 7700k is guaranteed by intel to work at 2133 or 2400, everything past 2400 is considered a overclock, and your mileage may very depending on how good of a IMC you get.

Try messing with VDIMM, VSA and VCCIO. Lower timings could be a solution also.

I have the same issue! also I have the same exact Corsair RAM DIMMS. The only difference is that I have the none K i7 7700. I couldn't not get the motherboard to boot if I enable XMP. The same RAM sticks I was able to OC them on an ASUS motherboard, What am I doing wrong?!

Are you saying the MB got stuck / failed at RAM training ? What code did the MB stop on ? XMP does not always work .. have you tried setting the RAM timing & voltage manually ? Your CPU OC can also contribute to issues Same CPU & RAM & PSU on that Asus MB ?

After setting up the XMP profile (profile 1). I save/reset the BIOS for the new setting to effect. After that the motherboard does not post and when looking at the LED display on the motherboard I get (4C) error. I have to do a CLR CMOS for it to boot again. This might sound stupid I never heard of the term RAM training! I just googled that.. didn't know that the motherboard is capable of achieving such method. It is not even in the manual! So I don't know what is the process of doing that I did try setting the voltage manually (I was getting 1.22v and changed it to 1.35v), but not the RAM timing. Yes I did have the Same CPU & RAM & PSU on that Asus MB. I just swapped this board with the Asus one
