Just finished assembling my new pc and upgraded to three GTX 570's. I added a 980x CPU and decided to give it a run for the show.  This processor is sick. I am blown away by its capability even with the stock cooler.

Here's my first 3DMark Vantage run with the CPU overclocked to 4.5Ghz on air. Still more room for higher clocks!

GTX 570 X 3 @ 800Mhz Core Clock; 950Mhz Memory and 1600Mhz Shader.

Second run with system temps... 805Mhz GPU Core/ 950Mhz Memory/ 1610 Shader

Validate:  http://3dmark.com/3dmv/2819186

Third run @ 4.76Ghz;  3-way SLi GTX 570 - 800 core/1600shader/2000 memory

New High Score P- 56,801

980x at 40% overclock on air 4.67Ghz

980X Idle Temperature @ 4.67Ghz= 25C

3way SLi GTX570 Auto Fan Control Idle temps

air cooled- GPU1=23C; GPU2=24C; GPU3=18C

The CPU is sitting in my freezer wrapped in a huge zip-lock bag. LOL

Here's my 980X with a 42% overclock @ 4.735Ghz  stable
The cpu is scaling nicely too. I think I'll leave it in the  freezer. :)

Can we do 4.8Ghz with hyper-threading on???

Once I find the roof of this processor, I'll do a 3DmarkVantage run. :)

44% CPU overclock @ 4.81Ghz on air, with stock cooler, within Intel specs.

Hot diggity dogg!!
Validate my new high:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1636049

Heaven 2.1 Benchmark @4.5Ghz; 1920X1080 all settings maxed out; tessellation=extreme

2nd Heaven 2.1 Benchmark, this time at @ 1680X1050. All settings maxed out; tessellation=extreme

3-way SLi GTX 570 GPU overclock @ 800Mhz core/CPU @ 4.35Ghz

Update- Will be adding a Heaven run @ 4.76Ghz, stay tuned.

Reason for edit: Added latest Vantage high score

That's amazing. I've been waiting for someone to post some numbers with the 570 in SLI, but 3 way SLI is even better. I think now I'm going 3 way with the 980x.

Now just oc the gpu's and get some better numbers. Of course, your the only one at the top. There's no Vantage and 3DMark 11 numbers for us.

That's pretty darn good derek. SLi scaling is outstanding on the 500 series cards. Here are the pics of my new pc with the gpu's. :)

Very nice man. The 500 series have got to be the best vid cards. Performance, cooling, cost, energy, are all where they should be.

O snap you are 3 way SLI with 570s and a 580 for PhysX. Lol that's awesome. I can't wait until college stops draining my wallet and I get to build a top notch PC.

T/Y Mr. Riddler. Without a doubt, you are spot on with that comment.

I'm going to be installing my games on the SSD's ( may take a while) and will follow up this post with some game benches. Any requests for benchmarks will be honored provided that I do have the game on hand. Pls submit request...will do what I can.

    Cheers!

LOL YES, a GTX 580 for PhysX! ahahaha! I know it's overkill but when the dough rolls in ya might as well over indulge. :)

I would have gone with 4 GTX580's but Fry's in Renton only had one in stock, and I wanted them NOW. lol

I hope everyone is having an awesome Christmas!

It's very good with adequate case ventilation. 4.5Ghz is where I stopped at for now. However, it IS a little warm inside the case for my tastes, and will probably do much better with the H-70.

I was lookin at that kit earlier online to use with my mini itx HTPC,  I still have an old H50 to run, but I like the profile of the block on the H70 among other improvements. Is it doing you justice? Would you recommend it?

If you like to push the machine hard, 5c is worth it in my honest opinion. That is a decent gain considering the size of the radiator. I might take the plunge and pick one up this week.

Smart move... i feel ya. I wouldn't wanna rewire twice, especially a PSU over 1Kw. lol That was the hardest part of my install. The dang wires. I like it tidy too! Don't forget the zippy ties if you don't already have some.

That's the only part of building rigs i hate. I'm definitely gonna try to hide all the wires. My antec 1200 case isnt the best for that either

I dig the build quality of antec cases. They're very sturdy and the craftsmanship they put into making them is amazing. The antec 1200 is no exception.

Tell your cousin to hurry up with the psu..lol I wanna see some benches from that beast of yours. Great choice. :)

yea it looks like 3031# batch and newer overclock very well with low voltage.. mine is a 3021 which is older and needs more volts at
4.4ghz and above..  mine is great at 4.0 and 4.2 with low volts but once I take it to 4.4+ I need to run it above 1.4 on the vcore. Which i have doubts is good for 24/7

How does the voltage of the i7 900's compare to the 980x?  Are they able to withstand more?  I have my i7 920 at around 1.21 and 1.25 under load to stay at 3.8 ghz stable, about 1.27 for 4 ghz stable.  1.4 would make me very nervous air cooling with my i7 920...does the 980x take higher voltages better?

    Nice system.
Just picked up a 980X today at a boxing day sale. $150.00 off but still $1000.00 here in Canada. God I hope it clocks!!!

I wish I had the money for a 980X. I'm hoping Intel drops the price on the 970 to $600 when the 990X comes out next year.

the 980x and 970 the limit is 1.4 vcore from intel.. How much you can go over that and not have the cpu degrade in a few months is up for debate.. For me im staying under 1.4v for 24/7
As for the i7 970 ebay has quite a few priced between 550$-650$ new in box right now..

    Agreed.
I checked mine and it's Intel burn test stable @4567/1.400v. That was just to see if would. Hopefully I can find a nice multi around the 4.2 area that doesn't need too much voltage. So far it looks good. They are a nice CPU.

Third 580 is coming this week. They should be fun for some benches, but a better CPU to push them is needed.
I like my Antec 1200 too. I've seen a lot of people around here recommend the Cooler Master HAF cases. Maybe I'll try one of them in the future.

OT: Some of the 970's are even $400, but do they qualify for the warranty? For EVGA warranty you must buy from a recognized reseller and ebay does not count.
