please release it soon, I have a 4930k on the way and want to continue to use my X79 FTW board

Me too, I like my EVGA X79 FTW, I don't want the X79 Dark because I don't need eight (8) DIMM slots, and because I always have been using just one (1) video card I am NOT interested about SLI or CrossFire, The X79 Dark have the exact same layout of the ASUS RIVE and I don't like such layout because is too overcrowded

They have to have some kind of idea on a date.  Maybe not exact but at least whether or not it's being worked on.  Not knowing anything is a bit aggravating.

Tempted to put my new SLI board up on Ebay.  Its a shame cause the hardware specs are exactly what I want.  Maybe other manufacturers are having trouble getting out BIOS updates for the new processors as well?  On Newegg all ASUS X79 boards specify support for ivy-e in the title.

Can't justify spending another $260 for Dark upgrade.  EATX will not fit in my ATX case with out cutting some metal to get to SATA ports.

780i FTW - Q9650
8GB G.SKILL something
Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB
Currently building EVGA X79 SLI - 4820K - 16GB G.SKILL RipZ 2133
Just need a BIOS update

Exactly! Just say it ain't gonna happen or tell us it is still in the works, but don't leave us in the Dark.

Oh wait a minute, that's exactly what they did, pushed us to the Dark Side.

This is not an excuse, but may be the EVGA BIOS team is busy tweaking the EVGA Dark BIOS, and the EVGA Dark have priority now because have been just released.

I need to go and check the EVGA behavior at the time of BIOS released for the old X58 motherboards, if I remember properly there were many many new Intel released processors for X58 and therefore new BIOS updates were many

I am wondering, a simple BIOS update for customers who have bought the EVGA X79 FTW/SLI/Classy to allow us the use of new Ivy bridge-E, is too much to ask to EVGA ?

No it's not, My EVGA X79 Classified motherboard is on its way from the East Coast and I'd like a bios Upgrade to IVB-E from EVGA too and an X79 Dark is not affordable to Me. I spent with shipping $204.82 for this X79 motherboard, $185.00 without shipping, I'd hope EVGA will support IVB-E on the X79 Sli, X79 FTW and the X79 Classified with a Bios upgrade to IVB-E, I'm sure not going to buy an X79 Dark and some are dumping their motherboards cause they see no support for the motherboard that they like.

Hopefully we keep this thread going and someone will take notice. I see now everything in this portion of the form is about the Dark. You really have to dig to find anything on the original X79's. All sticky's have been dissolved. The sweeping under the rug has begun. We have to keep posting in here to make it stay on top!

Other vendors have released updates supporting IvyBridge for the first x79 motherboards. EVGA seems behind in this for their x79 releases. I love EVGA video cards, but not so much love for their motherboards, and this aids in my frustration.

Re: EVGA X79 SLI/FTW/Classified Motherboards - BIOS 047 Released 2013/10/07 08:26:19 (permalink)
EVGA has a trade up program, of course it's limited, details are Here.

    EVGA X79 Classified151-SE-E779-$150.00 USD
    EVGA X79 FTW151-SE-E777-        $200.00 USD
    EVGA X79 SLI132-SE-E775-          $250.00 USD

So is EVGA going to do like ASUS and others have done and update the Bios of the older EVGA X79 motherboards or are they going to say this the only update path/deal the EVGA has? If it is some might consider it a raw deal, the $150 would not be a big deal for Me since I'm only in by $204.82 and I'd have to register the X79 Classified. Since I know I can replace the Bios chip, I can try a Dark 2.04 Bios and see if it would/will work as a temporary solution, it's not a large cost, since the Dark looks like an evolved Classified, one good thing is the lack of PINK slots, I'll put up with Pink cause of the features. I say PINK, as I own an old X58 ASUS R3E and it has real RED slots...

Swapping the X79 Classified BIOS chip, with the BIOS chip of the Dark, are you sure ?
Every motherboard SLI/FTW/Classy has its own specific BIOS

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:

None of those would get Me beyond FF when booting up with an IVB-E 4820K cpu, the chipset is capable, it just needs a Bios.

I have a GTX580 that has a different Bios loaded in it, of course the card is a reference Nvidia design, as is the card that the Bios is from, it works great and has for months.

Note: The Dark Bios on a Classified may not do any better than the 047 Bios, it may not even work, but it's worth a shot, I've seen the chips for both and the chips are priced at about $16.00(USD).

Yes, you are right, in the worst case scenario in which EVGA never update the BIOS of older X79 mobos to use the new IB-E, is necessary to explore that possibility also.

About one week ago I contacted EVGA customer support and this was the answer:

Question:
Customer Comment or Question

Subject: Ivy Bridge-E BIOS update for X79 FTW mobo
Comment: Hello, Intel released already weeks ago the Ivy Bridge-E processors for X79 LGA2011, and already weeks ago other mobo manufacturers like ASUS Gigabyte MSI Asrock Supermicro already updated all their LGA2011 motherboards to use Ivy Bridge-E, I have the X79 FTW and I cannot use the new 4820K because EVGA manager think there is no point to update the current EVGA X79 FTW Bios to allow to use the Ivy Bridge-E, You can be sure my next motherboard will be ASUS MSI Gigabyte or Asrock

Answer:
Hello, we are working on it and it will be available in round about 2 weeks. Regards,

zoom314
Note: The Dark Bios on a Classified may not do any better than the 047 Bios, it may not even work, but it's worth a shot, I've seen the chips for both and the chips are priced at about $16.00(USD).

I am not telling you that this is 100% for sure the case, but if EVGA is currently still selling the X79 SLI and the X79 Classy on their website, to some extent make sense that EVGA is about to release a BIOS update for the older/original X79 motherboards, because otherwise looks really weird to be selling "Enthusiast X79" motherboards without the possibility to use the latest already available IB-E processors

They've been telling me the same thing about an IVB BIOS for the SRX (around two weeks) but nothing whatever has been stated on the forum.  I sincerely hope its the truth.  I also agree with tonschk, I can't believe they'd knowling sell and profit from hardware they have no intention of making compatible with upgrades intended specifically for it.  It would look extremely bad alongside their rivals.

New BIOS this week will add Ivy-E support + new GUI.

Alright EVGA_JacobF and EVGA too! My board is registered, but I don't have an invoice that I can find... So I hope that doesn't preclude Me from getting a Bios chip, when the chips are ready that is.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you  , my X79 FTW is still in the box since last november 2012, I am looking now to get as soon as possible the 4820K, Obviously for us that dont have any Sandy Bridge-E processor, one way to get a BIOS chip ready for Ivy Bridge-E is if EVGA can send by letter this updated BIOS chip, I hope this is possible

Have anyone tested the Ivy with the old BIOS?
Does the System boot and can I Update the BIOS with the Ivy-E or is it not bootabel.

According to EVGA, the IVY would come up as FF and that would be the end, so the two won't boot together under the old Bios, just the new one that will be released soon.
