Upgraded so far no problems.  I am glad you all got rid of the SAS call out... I know that confused a LOT of people.  (Panicked them probably!  "Ack! No harddrive!")

Haven't OC'd yet as I tend to keep things stable on a new BIOS release... but thanks for keeping the product up to date and fixing things.

Flash not working for me.  I tried running the 64 bit bat file, as directed.  Entered a capital Y and hit enter.  Greeted with a red error message that flashes up so fast and exits that I can't read it.  All I know is it is error 2XX (where X is a number, just can't read what).

Any ideas?

Flash in dos mode.
And it doesn't flash because it's missing a command to invoke that mode for flashing.

Try right clicking the 64 bit bat file and hit run as administrator.

Error I recieve:
"Error 284: Fail to load driver (PCI access for Windows).
tool needs to run with an administrator priviledge account."

Edit: You may need to lower your UAC "User Account Control" setting if it is set at default.

Or you can open the command prompt by going to search and type in CMD. Right click, run as admin. use the command "CD .." to drop down a folder level, and again until you reach C:

Place the files in your main C drive, and to open the folder in command prompt type in "CD whateverthefolderiscalled"

Run the bat file by typing in "thefilename.bat"  then press enter - follow the instructions on screen.

I follow the instructions as the website tell me, but when I run the fptwin64.bat file, I see the dos window pop up.  I push caps Y and ENTER.  Immediately I see a small window popping up that Windows will now shutdown.  I don't see the usual flashing of the bios and all the other stuff that is associated with upgrading to a new bios.  After I boot the system the setup still says 41 bios installed.  This happened with both 45 and 47.  What am I doing wrong?

Sincerely,
Thomas

You should already be in a dos window CMD box when running the file. You have to open a CMD line as an administrator. Then type the destination path where the file is located. Then type the fptwin64.bat and press the enter key
If you are NOT running the CMD as an administrator then it will not work.

Hi, I flashed 47 and noticed my cpu usage is around 8% at idle with System Interrupts - Deferred Procedure Calls and Interrupt Service Routines using most of the 8%.  I went back to 45 and cpu usage is back to 1-2% at idle, anyone else getting this?

Wow, I wouldn't have noticed this until I saw your post.

Very strange. I'm running 3-7% when Idle with bios 47

I'm going to flash back to 46 and 45 to see where it idles then.

Ok so I was idling around 3-8% with bios 47.

I justed flashed back to 45 and Now I'm back to normal at 0%

I thought I had noticed a decrease in performance while gaming today..Now it seems like things are back to normal. Maximum performance again.

Thanks for bringing this up CHopper!

thanks to chopper and realizing I was having a performance decrease today. Beware of this bios.

My system was suffering from a major performance decrease with bios 47. I found CPU idling at 3-8% and noticed all day today that something was in fact not right with my system. I notice a significant decrease in FPS while playing BF3 and other game.

I'm back to bios 45 and everything is good.

Well I hope this works better than 045, that was the worse so far for me. I went back to 044 last night just to get a stable system. Strange long warning beep on cold starts and USB power surge warnings as well more vcore needed when using 045. Will see how 047 hold up.

Actually after reading the last post again, I think I will stay with 44 for a spell longer as I've had no issues with it. Left it on all night and no errors messages this morning.

OK the over current beep was due to one of my SLI cars needed a re-seat. Took it out to add a usb device and did not get it back in correctly. However, the other problems are due to the 45 bios. I am able to run stale 24/7 @ 4.75 G now using the 044 bios.

If 047 is loading the CPU at idle, I guess I will wait for 048. Is this a new world's record, 47 bios releases for a motherboard?

Upgraded to this Version and i get new Problem. My Intel i7 3820 doesent go to idle state anymore. It stops at 3Ghz and doesent go lower. Went beck to 44 bios and it worked fine. Why does this happen?
The SAS message at device manager is away but it is not worth to upgrade until cpu doesent work right.

I was bored of my X79 SLI running so well, so I downloaded this Bios to see if the System Interrupts would happen.  Sure enough it did, %6 to %8 of cpu usage.  I had to go back to Bios 44 to get them to disappear.  (45 had them as well for me.)

Good catch Chopper.

Re:EVGA X79 Motherboards - BIOS 047 Released 2013/03/19 09:29:33 (permalink)
Well, i'm seeing the same odd load on the CPU others are seeing : running on 47 and sure enough, constant 40-78% load on one of my CPU cores, and some minor load on another core.
Followed all usual procedures, set BIOS to factory settings before flashing, the works...
Even re-flashed it to make sure i didn't mess up : no dice.

Going to go back to 45 now, because i know 45 did not have this odd issue.
Someone goofed on this one.
