can i use the evga 4way sli bridge for 3way sli?

i do not seem to have a 3way sli bridge in my X99 classified box only a 2way and a 4way can i hook my 3way GTX980s with 1 slot empty and be just fine?

Case: Rosewill BLACKHAWK-ULTRA Gaming Super Tower Computer Case 
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 80 PLUS GOLD Certified 1300W 
GPU:EVGA GTX980 3 Way-SLI
CPU: Intel i7-5960X @ 4.5Ghz 
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H110 
Motherboard: EVGA X99 Classified 
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 / 1333 (Quad Channel) 
Hard drive 1: PNY XLR8 240GB SSD 
Hard drive 2: Intel 730 Series 480GB SSD 
Hard drive 3: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 
Monitor: ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms 
Headset: Razer Tiamat 7.1 Surround Sound PC Gaming Headset

    If you want I'll trade you your 4-way pro bridge for my 3-way pro bridge. Just got my 4th GTX titan arriving to me.
     
    But to answer your question, no I don't think the 4-way bridge will work.

    Yes you can use a 4-Way SLI Bridge for 2-Way or 3-Way SLI Setups.

    4-way bridge should work just fine I would think. The x99 classified is suppose to come with a 2-way flex, 3-way hard, & 4-way hard sli bridges. I would contact EVGA immediately and request for them to send you a 3-way bridge as it was suppose to come with your x99 classified motherboard.

    I do now have the 3-Way SLI Pro Bridge installed.

    okay now i have all 3 cards in and i am using slots 1/4/6 when i try to enable SLI it says "For optimal 3d performance, Connect the SLI-Ready graphics cards with an SLI connector."
     
    any ideas?
     
    also when i reboot it says SLI connector is missing in the corner popup

    Yes it is, but J1 is on top as shown above. Funny because on the 3-Way Pro Bridge J1 is right side up.

    Which cards are you running, are they all the same part number? According to this video it should be working just fine.

    Well might not work but you can...
    try with 2 cards first
    try upside down bridge

    ended up being that the 4-way sli that came with my EVGA X99 Classified was no good got a replacement 3way sli works fine now thanks all for the help.
