I'm completely at a loss and have been troubleshooting for about 2 weeks now so I'm hoping someone will have a better idea than me. It's a CLEAN install of Windows 10

Specs:
OS - Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
CPU - Intel Core i7 6700K
RAM - g.skill 3200mhz 16GB Trident Z
MB - EVGA Z170 FTW
GPU - EVGA GTX 980 TI FTW
Boot Drive - Samsung 840 EVO

This only seems to happen within 5 minutes after booting to the desktop. All programs will stop responding as well as the start menu and task bar randomly. I can't even open command prompt or task manager, the whole system essentially has stopped. I can move my mouse and still click things though. Cannot restart or shut down so I'm forced to hold the power button down or reset. I'm incredibly frustrated because it's a clean install of windows 10 and I've re-installed it probably 5 times now...

Upon hard resetting my computer to get back I checked event viewer and see this string of warnings and errors at the time it happens.

Here are some of the relevant messages from these errors:

Closing a UDP socket with local port number 60454 in process 1636 is taking longer than expected. The local port number may not be available until the close operation is completed. This happens typically due to misbehaving network drivers. Ensure latest updates are installed for Windows and any third-party networking software including NIC drivers, firewalls, or other security products.

The server {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

    Hey Mike406,

When installing any OS -- especially Win 10 --- I do it all OFF-line.

Put all of your MB, GPU drivers on to a USB thumb drive.

Load windows clean - (I like USB, its faster than DVD)

Then load MB chip-set drivers FIRST

Then load other MB drivers - sound, USB, network - what ever.....

    Load GPU drivers.

Next, test that it works, OK

Select updates from MS and your network only.

Last step go online check for updates.

    GL

edit: may have to reboot your router

The network drivers from the evga download page are out of date. The most recent network drivers for your intel i219 nic can be downloaded here.

+1 that should fix it. If it doesn't go to the Device Manager and choose view and show hidden devices. See if anything looks incorrect or has a yellow exclamation mark.

Thanks for the quick responses guys truly appreciate it. I went ahead and formatted again for good measure and will follow your advice with chipset drivers first and the newer NIC driver. We'll see how it goes!

I was actually just about to post back haha. I haven't had any freezing whatsoever anymore so perhaps I'm in the clear!   Perhaps EVGA should consider hosting the new version of this driver. Thank you both again!
