I have some of my music on my phone, LG Rumor Touch thru Virgin Mobile <3

But on the somewhat rare occasion I need mobile music, I have an iPod Shuffle that I got for free using my G2 rewards points. It's the tiny, thumb drive size one. It's pretty sweet. Wife has a Zune.

Have a ZuneHD and HTC g2.  the Zune is a great mp3 player and the software is "lite" enough for me i dont feel it is overly intrusive with my computer.  I hate apple and itunes with a passion.

The zune has apps, very few.  it is intended by microsoft to be an mp3 and media player rather than an iphone touch.  microsoft doesnt want it to compete with the windows phones, so this will probably never change.  the zuneHD does mp3 very well.  Sound quality is pretty good for a mainstream player.  The HD dock allows digital spdif output....this is one of the main reasons i chose the zunehd.

my phone, although i like it's features has not replaced my zunehd yet....the sound quality is horrible IMO even with good source files.  However, Pandora internet radio app has proven to be a really great thing for me.  It has its uses.

I love using the bluetooth for audio. <3

What is your bluetooth setup? I've got a pioneer head unit in my truck that works great for bluetooth phone, but when i use it for audio it sounds horrible. Don't know if it's the headunit or my phone but when i plug it in via 3.5mm jack it sounds great.

I have an 80GB iPod.

I was one like you, OP, too once since I knew the iPod was very popular and I wanted something to be different.  However, getting the iPod was the best decision I made in terms of portable media players.

It's not about being different, i hate itunes, i feel that when you buy a piece of hardware you should be allowed to use whatever software you want with it. I have no problem with the actual ipod.

I use a Sony Xplode deck with Bluetooth audio suport...

When using the AUX cable and having my phone pluged into the power i was getting static and background noises but with the bluetooth its clear.

However if you dont have the sound maxed out on the player and use the deck for volume it will lose sound quality... i noticed that when i first started using it. Always max out the sound on the playing device.

I agree that itunes sucks but if you have a problem with itunes and not the iPod itself then you should know that you don't have to use it. There are many alternatives that work much better then itunes that you can use with an ipod/iphone. After I jailbroke my iPhone I could no longer sync up to my computer with itunes without it attempting to delete my apps. I downloaded a light program called SharePod and everything was fine.  I wouldn't by an apple computer due to their cost but their hand held devices are fine.

Ok, iTunes does take some to get used to but I like it.  Heh.  Then, I use iDump to copy the songs back to the PC if I want to.
