I've been a fan of creative since i bought a zen vision: m almost five years ago, it died a while back and i got the xfi-2. Big dissapointment, it is a capable player but the touch screen is so horrible you'd think it was first generation. But i bought it so i figured i'd make due with it. Then the other day i put a few songs on my blackberry storm and hooked it up to my car just to see how it sounded(i know phones have had mp3 funcitons for years but i just always assumed it was a novelty thing.) Turns out, the phone blows the zen away! It came with a 16gb sd card, same as the zen. I'm just going to use this as my permanent mp3 player now, to hell with creative and having to ccarry around multiple small easy to lose devices. So what do you use as your primary music player?

I'm assuming the iPhone qualifies as being an iPod, too? In that case, disregard ... (Convergence ftw)

I’ve been using a Zune for some time now. Mostly for my car when I was in Japan and now the same thing since I’m back home. I bought the Nano size 8GB one from a friend and loved the touch "squircle". Scrolling was smooth and the menus are all black background with white text. I ended up buying an HD from the same guy, guy needed money for his spice problem, and I have to say I freaking love the HD. It's as bout as small as I would want a player, but not too small where's it’s a pain to use. The navigation is smooth but will take a bit to get used too. Can do 720p to a HDTV with a special dock. Screen is amazing and crisp and it survived my Afghanistan deployment. Another bonus is the software. Just as a standalone music player for windows the Zune player is awesome. Love how it will grab artist info and album covers automatically and update itself. The screensaver is cool collage of all the covers. The menus are easy with Artist on the left, albums in the middle, and songs to the right. Better than when I last used iTunes, which to me is like using excel. The sync options are nice, you can have sync what you want auto, so any changes to song lists or song names will copy over or you can set it to manual and do everything yourself. I had the Zune pass thing for a bit and didn't really use it too much. I've heard good things about it and I’ve heard some bad things. I would look into it yourself to see if you'd want/need it. Also it can use your Xbox live account if you have one. It was just cool to me how I changed my gamer tag and it changed in the software. 1 bad thing about the Zune is the lack of apps. For me I don't care. I have droid for appage and don't really use them too much, outside of regular smart phone duties. The only app I got is audio surf, which is awesome if you've never played that game. It’s an indie arcade like racing game, but creates a track based on the song you choose. It has a crazy light show look too. Overall it's one of the most used tech items I’ve bought over the years. I found the interface on both the player and software to be more update-to-date or modern. It feels right at home with Win 7. Something Winamp didn’t seemed too old looking. Well that's my two cents. If you don’t mind buying used you can get a 16 GB model for 120. Reg price is 170-180ish at Newegg or Amazon. Also ditch the stock ear buds, I thought they were junk. I bought a pair of Senn's cx300s. I give it an 11.

i will i agree that the zune is a very solid player with an easy to use interface, i bought the 8gb one for my wife two years ago and(after a very lengthy rma process) it turned out to be okay. My biggest problem with it is the software, i hate it for the same reason i hate itunes. It takes too much control over your player and gives you no options, i need a device that lets me manage it the way i want. We've gone months without being able to add music to it because of a faulty update and you can't do anything with it until it updates or use it on a nother computer because then it locks all of your media. Too much hassle, with creative you can use any program you want to sync media files, or you can just drag them over in explorer. That's why i'll never get an ipod or go back to the zune.

Having your phone as an MP3 player is the best. It's nice to be able to stream all kinds of radio stations. Just picked up a 32GB micro SD card for 60 dollars if needed for file transfers.

I use my Driod for my music... The 16GB card works out nicely... The deck i got in my car has bluetooth (main reason i got it) and i have my phone bluetooth linked to my deck so all my music plays through bluetooth. one less wire and the deck buttens work to pause and change the songs so another plus to not using a AUX cable. Also when using navagation it cuts off the music to give directions than goes back to the music. When i get a phone call i can anwser it and it comes through the car speekers. If my current earbuds were not so awesome i would have bluetooth headphones also xD

check out Archos players. But I use a Samsung Intercept (droid phone) I was using my Iphone&Itouch before I got this to replace my boring Iphone and the audio quality is 5 times better. no crummy AAC files or 128kbps, just my pure high quality WMA&MP3 files. But not to bash my IpodTouch that I have used for years and years. The bright touch screen has made it easy to navigate over 200 albums while driving. very safe.

The wife and I each have Zen mosaics and we both love them. The screen is pretty small for any MP4s but we just use them for running music or I use a radio transmitter thing and use it in my work truck. Never had a single problem with them.

I have an 3.5 input on my car stereo. I just plug the DroidX into that using it's 3.5 jack and a male to male cable. I also have a USB port on the car unit to use. Get the cable cheap at monoprice or a local radioshack. I also got the sync option with the doubleTwist player on my Droid and have doubleTwist installed on my PC so syncing music, videos and photos has become a very simple operaton over wifi. I got the Sync option for $0.99, not sure if it is still priced at that. Tark
