The 1080TI will likely drop at CES or close to it. With sales coming close to the end of Jan. However, it will be DDR5 and likely be around 900-1000 msrp.

How will it perform? Well... no one knows just yet.. or they are not allowed to speak on it (NDA)..

I guess we know why the Titan was priced at $1,200...it was to make room for the ti to fit in between the 1080 and Titan...if the pricing rumors are true.

This may be the wrong place to start this thread since EVGA doesn't sell the Titan X Pascal, but I'll probably get a much higher response rate asking here.  Sorry in advance mods if you have to move this!

So I currently have 2 GTX 980 Ti's and I'm severely disappointed with the lack of SLI support in DX11 games and explicit mgpu support in DX12 games.  With that said, I'm 90% convinced that I should no longer bother with multi-GPU setups, at least until things change.  Just look at the long list of games that I've played lately that either don't support SLI/mgpu or have terrible support and scaling:

Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, Watch Dogs 2, Titanfall 2, Doom, Hitman (2016)

With that said, should I just pull the trigger and get a Titan X Pascal?  The only thing holding me back is the fact that it's a reference design, with an 8+6 pin power connector, which is weak sauce for something that should have 8+8 at least for great overclocking.  The cooling on those reference cards is lackluster to say the least.

I'm aware that the GTX 1080 Ti will release in January most likely, but will be a cut-down GP102.  However, with a custom PCB and liquid cooling, I would imagine the performance gap could be reduced significantly.  Anyways, I just want your thoughts.  2 cards is out of the question now for me since the list of games that support SLI/mgpu isn't getting much larger.

Yes buy a Titan X Pascal you will be very happy Since you are not on water go with the EKWB 360 Predator and full cover water block pre-fill. None of the other AIO's will cool as well as this system for the CPU or GPU. I have just one Titan XP and it is extremely fast playing the Division at 75 to 80 FPS and Battlefield 1 175 FPS both games on Ultra settings at 1440. You will not be disappointed with this setup.

Yes you can put two Titan XP's on one loop. Your temperatures will go up about 4c to 5c on the GPU's and CPU. This is from my installation Manual. You can always add another 240 rad to the loop the pump is plenty strong.

What are your temps with the cpu and 1 Titan xp using the pred 360?

So I got my Titan X Pascal yesterday and it's an alright card on air, but definitely not worth it IMO  with the terrible Nvidia reference cooler.  The fans are noisy as **** and overclocking isn't very good.  That's why I ordered a Predator 360 and pre-filled water block.  However, with my amazing luck (as usual) my Predator 360 started leaking immediately after I installed it.  I just submitted an RMA.  On top of that, the pre-filled GPU water block was a little went near the fittings when I first unpacked it... it didn't leak anymore after that, but I think I'm going to RMA it as well to stay on the safe side... I have no way of testing whether or not it leaks when the loop is running.  Overall, I'm very disappointed with my experience and I will stick with Ti variants from now on.  Preferably an EVGA Hybrid model.  This reference design is just so bad.

I hear you on the LOUD NVIDIA reference cooler...it's just not enough for this card.

You can always put the EVGA 1080 AIO hybrid cooler on your card.

I have 2 Titan X P cards.  You remove the stock heat sink, keep the PCB base plate, fan, and back plate, and mount the AIO block on the GPU.  My cards stay under 50 C (with 28 C ambient) at 2075 MHz to 2100 MHz on the GPU.  And, it's quiet!

Sorry to hear about your leaking Predator. Did you order straight from EKWB? If not you need to RMA your products through EKWB so you get the latest revisions. Look on your box and see if you have 1.1D it will not leak. The other AIO's can't touch the performance of the Predator 360 and full cover water block pre-fill. As for the card it is so fast I can't believe you would want a cut down ti. My card OC'd to 2110 and it's stable on the water block. Good luck with what ever you decide!

Hang in there gridironcpj.

My Titan X Pascals are monsters at Folding when underwater, you will be happy when you get your loop sorted.
On air you need the GPU fan at full power, in a Cold room with a lot of case fans and they will work.

Re: Should I get a Titan X Pascal? 2016/12/08 12:51:06 (permalink)
Thanks for the support folks.  I have an RMA filed and we're looking to schedule a pickup.  My 3930K is dead though ugh.  It's lasted 4 years, so I got great mileage out of it.

BTW, the Predator has revision 1.1D, yet it still leaked :/ I could see the water dripping from the side of the waterblock.

I'll probably stick with this cooling solution since I invested in the Titan X Pascal with the intention of liquid cooling it.  I would consider Ti variants because of the convenience of being able to get a top-quality OC out of the box for extended periods of gaming with a hybrid model or custom PCB with premium air cooling.

On a more positive note, in the little amount of testing I was able to conduct with my air-cooled Titan X Pascal, it was able to beat my benchmark score in Hitman (2016) of 2 980 Ti's in MGPU mode DX12 by about 10FPS.  Each 980 Ti was at 1468MHz, which was my day-to-day gaming OC (max OC was 1501-1520).  Also, Titan X air-cooled pulled a few FPS ahead in my benchmark run of AC Syndicate, which has a very good SLI profile.  It seems like I made the right investment at least for the sake of performance in games (especially since most of the games I've bought this year either don't support 2 GPUs or do it poorly).
