Finally got everything together for a few runs and Made #10 position in the Fire Strike HOF.

Wow. 4.875 on your 5960x. That's insane. What kind of volts do you need for this?

Are you all running dual SLI Ribbons on the 1080's ?

I think that all the members that have posted here should run a Base Line on their GTX 1080 cards with Stock Settings NO OVERCLOCKING AT ALL and post their Link and scores.

Also their SLI bridge config. Single, dual, 3way/4way bridge, SLI HB (when those come out)
I'll redo my tests and update that original post above with links this time.

And those >4 core 3dmark scores have me jealous but sticking with this 6700k for now.

Ordered the Nvidia SLI HB bridge which went on sale today. I think if EVGA releases their flavor next week it will probably show up sooner.

I've been monitoring the nvidia and evga sites for days. Of course the day I don't evga goes on sale and I miss out on the one I need.
Oh well. Nothing arriving until Friday at the earliest.

Of course jealous other folks are getting theirs now when I have to wait, but initial reports don't look promising.
I had hoped that my highest scores with a single 2-way LED bridge (but unstable) had a hint of what could be possible.

I got my EVGA HB SLI bridge today and did not best my dual "soft" SLI bridge.  I think the whole thing is marketing.  Do I regret the purchase? No, it looks better then two soft bridges.  Was it REVOLUTIONARY? no.... Marketing.

I feel the same.  I have a surround set-up and plan to stick with it even if I upgrade my monitors.  I like the look of it and the fact that I can switch the colors easily.  Do I need to have it no, I suppose I could live without it but I wanted it.  :)

Different drivers? I ask because there was an updated driver set that I read really increased Firestrike scores.

That Score was with the Hotfix 368.51 GeForce drivers, which is why it was an invalid score.
Try it again with the Futuremark 368.39 approved drivers.

So it's late and probably doing something stupid.
Whenever I load up Afterburner or Percision X and use the defaults my 3dmark scores go down significantly compared to not using them.
I'm racking my brain as that is the way I had done my initial stock FE scores.
I've cleared out any profiles and reinstalled and not sure why there is a hit on gpu.

No OC software loaded: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12680374
With OC software loaded: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12681309

GPU barely hits 100% on the second one and bounces around between 69-89%.  First one is flat line at 100%

Dual Flex cable (10cm each):

FS Ultra: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8919758

FS Extreme: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8919698

FS 1080p around 30k...but I don't play in this resolution, so I don't really care for full HD since it is a lot more CPU bound, a lot more than the others resolutions.

Cheers

Yeap - the HB bridge only helps with latency for 4K+ resolutions, and can be seen with the professional tool FCAT.

Re: My GTX 1080's in SLI 2016/06/27 12:36:39 (permalink)
Ha, well I "think" I figured out my variance in scores.
Over the past few days I've since reloaded my system from scratch and just finished another battery of 3dMark tests (over 100).
If someone wants to help confirm these tests and prove my insanity, please do.

Bottom line, it looks like OC software (Afterburner, Precision X) is affecting high bandwidth with SLI HB.
It doesn't start to become noticeable in 3dMark until you start running Fire Strike Extreme and very obvious in Ultra.
I started testing other benchmarks such as UNiGiNE's Heaven and do see the hit in performance but don't have enough scores yet to show the variance.

Cards: x2 EVGA GTX1080 Founders Edition
All 3dMark scores are Graphics only with Graphics Test 1,2
Demo, Physics, Combined disabled.
All tests ran 6 times throwing out the lowest score and averaged.
Tested without/with OC Software, Single Card, Single Bridge, Nvidia SLI HB Bridge
OC Software: Precision X 6.0.1, Afterburner 4.30beta4

Fire Strike
Single Card/SLI Disabled: 21673 (+/- 29)
Single SLI Bridge: 34964 (+/- 55)
SLI HB - No OC Software: 39336 (+/- 110)
SLI HB - OC Software: 39249 (+/- 95)

Fire Strike Extreme
Single Card/SLI Disabled: 10259 (+/- 20)
Single SLI Bridge: 18321 (+/- 32)
SLI HB - No OC Software: 19249 (+/- 70)
SLI HB - OC Software: 18962 (+/- 80)

Fire Strike Ultra
Single Card/SLI Disabled: 5104 (+/- 11)
Single SLI Bridge: 9415 (+/- 23)
SLI HB - No OC Software: 9564 (+/- 33)
SLI HB - OC Software: 9282 (+/- 36)

Observations:
1. Ultra scores are consistently worse with OC Software loaded at defaults than a single SLI Bridge.
2. No change with/without OC software loaded with single card/SLI disabled.
3. No change with/without OC software loaded with single bridge.
4. In each test run per configuration the variance is less than 1%.
5. Able to reproduce these scores and variances over a few days now and they are still less than 1% per configuration.
6. Rebooting -or- Exiting the OC software, disable SLI, enable SLI consistently gets me back into the "without OC Software" scores.
7. I tested my dual flex bridge config again and as everyone else is reporting, no difference with the Nvidia SLI HB bridge.
8. Same results with 368.25 or 368.39 drivers.

If the OC software is setting different defaults than a stock card settings I'd think it would show up in the single card or single bridge tests.
My concern is with SLI HB if we can't even get default settings in OC software to benchmark the same as stock card settings isn't that affecting our overall OC benchmarks?

Update: If you want to try to test this yourself use Precision X.  While Afterburner is showing a hit in scores Precision X has been worse and more obvious.

All 3dMark scores are GPU only with Graphics Test 1,2
Demo, Physics, Combined disabled.
All tests ran 6 times throwing out the lowest score.

8. Same results with 368.25 or 368.38 drivers.

Nice testing.

Considering your FS and FS Extreme results, your FS Ultra results are oddly low.

What's your CPU? Broadwell-E? 39k in FS 1080p, is that right? Could you send us the result link for this one?

Cheers

Hey there, these are Graphics Scores only. I'm only concentrating on the GPU performance so they don't include the CPU benchmarks.
Using the Graphics Score is also a better way to compare card performance between systems for an issue like I'm seeing.
I also skipped the Physics and Combined (both CPU related) to speed up the testing.

When you skip any of the tests they can't be posted but an example would be this:

I'm looking at this score:

Oops, sorry for the misunderstanding

Now I see you are considering just the Graphics score.

Answer to my own question seems yes it does.
Same testing as before:

Fire Strike Ultra with +100 GPU Clock and +100 Memory Clock
Single SLI Bridge: 9865 (+/- 36)
SLI HB: 9756 (+/- 38)

The firestirke screems really low.

Look at my friend 2x GTX 980 TI @ 1250Mhz

This one seems to be quite a bit higher than your friends..... GPU and total score....
