Hello. I have an some problem with GPU boost clock. 368.69 drivers.

At some point after having my system powered on, it often happens while the system is some time idle, my GTX 1080 becomes permanently throttled. The graphics clock is halved from a maximum of 1950-1960mhz (factory OC) to 1285mhz . When this occurs, it doesn't matter how much I load my card, be it games or other demanding applications, it does not ever go past the above caps. The only solution I have had up until now was to reboot the system .GPU-Z reports the "perfcap" reason as PWR

Screen:

There are many topics about this issue on geforce.com. Also even in our forum:

http://forums.evga.com/SC-1080-Clock-Problems-m2500382.aspx

Somebody said this from link above :"Are you getting driver crashes at all??        I see it's being capped at 34.4% TDP, with PerformanceCap Reason of PWR.
That usually happens due to a driver crash if it doesn't recover properly, will get capped at low power/clocks."

But me not, I have 0 driver crashes. And normally the event log will show the drive crash report which in my case it doesn't show. So its not related to driver crash.

Any opinions ? Please help me, thank you. Is something with my card or problem is elsewhere because many peoples suffer this problem.

PC: 6700K No Oc

16gb DDR4 Kingston Hyperx

750W Corsair RM

Asus Z170-P

SSD Crucial Bx100 256GB

I have installed only GPUZ , CPUZ , FRAPS + 3 games. No installed overclocking utilities like Evga Precision or Afterburner. Thats all.

Go through the steps in #2 here: http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2504606

What card did you have previously?  If you had an AMD card, also run DDU for AMD drivers.  I generally then run something like CCleaner to look for registry issues.

What are your power settings in the NVIDA control panel?  Are you set to "Optimal" or "Adaptive"?

Of course first was that i check power management. All is ok default ( balanced ).

Not Windows management, the GPU power management under the NVIDIA control panel.  Those options are "Maximum Performance", "Adaptive" and "Optimal".

They are the default i dont change anything. And still after restart pc clocks was back to normal. I guess it is Adaptive.

I personally leave it to "Adaptive" on the global and set all games to "Maximum" in their individual profiles.    I had the clock lock problem early on and a reinstall fixed it for me.  And everyone is different, but I like to run Windows at "High Performance".  I seem to have issues with "Balanced", but I like to OC things and that is probably part of the issue in my case.

I'd also recommend adding all your system specs to your signature.  Go to User Control Panel at the top of the page, select Signature on the left and place them there so you don't have to retype it with every post.

I would still recommend you clean the drivers and reinstall using the latest driver as stated above.

Yes but many peoples suffers from this from geforce com forum. In my situation it happened just once.

    I dont had driver crash.

But somebody said to me this:" The driver will not necessarily throw you a TDR ("Display driver stopped responding") error, either. The overclock can fail silently after X errors."

I am worried a little that can be card issue, even if driver not necessary throw a TDR error.

    What you think?

    "Improper overclocking causes these symptoms.

My card usually locks into a non-performance power state after too many hardware faults due to overclocking. Like others have said, a reboot will solve it, but double-check the stability of your overclocking.

The driver will not necessarily throw you a TDR ("Display driver stopped responding") error, either. The overclock can fail silently after X errors."

This is an Nvidia bug that should have been fixed already.  It's been present going back to 9xx series of cards when the 36x.xx series of drivers were released.

Your card is not bad.  However, if users were to start RMA'ing their cards, Nvidia Authorized Board Partners might push Nvidia a little harder to fix the issue...

First time 2 weeks ago after long idling it throttled only gpu core. Second time after long idling yesterday even memory.

    GPU CORE : 1164mhz throttle
Memory clock : 1152mhz instead of 1251mhz. throttle

So its still driver issue? Dont worry about memory throttle ?

I ask because peoples with this issue only mention about throttled gpu clock not memory.
In my case it throttled core clock and memory clock. That doesnt matter?

Simply disabling/enabling the card in device manager will fix this issue without having to reboot.

It is interesting to see that both , Memory and Core clocks are being affected this time since everyone else see it only affect the Core clock.

     Any ideas?
Maybe someone with the same issue + memory throttled + and gpu core clock after long idling.

Or that doesnt matter if memory throttled too?
