It wasn't an entire remake in the sense that it was the same story with different actors but it was an inside look at the world of profession assassination and the 'Mechanics' who perform these services. I remember Charles Bronson the best when he played 'Mr Majestyk' and 'Death Wish'.

Bronson made some good movies.  Of course my 2 favorites were/are Clint Eastwood and John Wayne.  Especially in there westerns...

Zuhl, thanks for the clarification there, only ever saw the Bronson movie.

BDary, Wayne did some great Westerns, but imho, some of his best work was the non westerns, like Barbary Coast, Wake of the Red Witch, Reap the Wild Wind, The Quiet Man, Donovan's Reef, and others.  One of my dads favorites was Hell Fighters.  Not saying I disliked the westerns, but I think he did get type-casted kinda heavily back then unfortunately, and a lot of very good movies were overlooked because of it.  As you can see I dig old movies.....saw a lot of these when I was a kid some with my dad and also with my late grandfather.

It was an interesting excursion into the dark world of professional hitmen and how efficiently and quickly they can dispatch you into the great beyond without leaving a trace of their existence and either leave the authorities clueless or looking in the wrong direction. Nothing is what it seems when they are finished. Making it look like an accidental death is an art. If they have you targeted you don't even have time to blink. Knowing it is not just a rehash of the same story I am now looking forward to see what the next film brings to light.

Yeah, I went to see the original Mechanic in the movies when it first came out.  Saw that and I think two cartoons for about a buck....hmmm maybe I am in the geezers club.

Yeah, there weren't any movies he was in I can recall that I didn't like.  But when I think of John Wayne, his westerns pop in my mind first...

How about John Wayne in the 'Green berets' and Charles Bronson in 'Hard Times'.

They should do a remake of Death Wish, now that's a Bronson movie.

Me, and my Son went. Had to show him what movies his Dad likes to watch. Action, and hot women. Looks like I'm going to be proud of my Son. He likes those two things in life too.

P.S.  Has anyone else seen this movie yet?

Charles Bronson...he never lost a battle as far as I remember.

I think you're right. They couldn't even kill him in The Dirty Dozen if I remember correctly.
