Am I missing something? Why does it matter which car sells more? The only reason I can think of that it would matter is if you were in some sort of popularity contest. Buy what you like, drive what you love. Who cares how many are sold? Or how many people you can beat?

Justin

You might have Hemi, but that could be because I did not elaborate on my comment. I think Moose caught on though. Neither of us are comparing egos, just the sales and hopes as each camp tries to out do the other... Sales numbers like these are extremely impressive. Like Moose, I am thinking Camaro will spike just like the Mustang did and frankly the Charger has.

My reasoning behind the sales numbers... Exactly what I said a few years ago in these very threads. Mark my words, this is the "Second golden age" of Hp/Torque wars. With very reasonable pricing and gas mileage. VERY exciting times right now.

For me it has absolutely nothing to do with ego and everything to do with the raw enjoyment of a spirited yet "legal" driving experience vs the beer can we have been forced to deal with the last 20 years or so.

You cannot have any camp feel the pressure to improve and release these amazing machines without the competition.

So, to be clear. I am looking at the shear increase of sales and what that does for all of us. Even those of us that will get used cars that the "Got to have the new stuff now" folks trade in.

Here we go again. You guys with cars are like little kids over an ice cream cone. Who gives a (Deleted for Foul Language) who likes chocolate and who likes vanilla. Eat your damn ice cream and let whoever likes what they like.

Hey be nice, no bad words in my threads!

In all seriousness. Even 31 flavors does not have enough choices. I do not care who makes it! But I care if I fit and in makes me want to drive it, even nearly two years later. Like our current Stang does. LOVE the drive!

And yes. The plan is to keep our current Stang (Wifes car) and get me the GT350. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Thanks for the clarification. It appeared as of it was turning into an ego thing.

Me personally, I don't want to run into any B5 blue scat pack shakers with stripe delete, so I'm OK if they're 3rd..., and even more limited for scat pack shakers.

It is a great time to be a modern car enthusiast. I can't believe I can drive my 4300 pound beast, with 485hp, and still get 20mpg.

Amazing.

That's the point I was trying to get across. Every time there is a car thread, a argument always breaks out over what car is better and why :P.

Sweet car.
My dream sports car is the Hyundai Genesis coupe.
I think after the wife is done with school and we buy a house I might get one.
For now I settled with a 2014 Forte, a bit more practical.

Have fun with your new car, looks awesome. I bet it sounds awesome too.

Congrats AB!  That is one of my favs.  A buddy of mine was involved with selling the first GT-350R at the Barrett Jackson Auction for over a Million.  What a great experience to be a part of.

Yeah, the cars you listed are too flashy and scream "im a tool".
I work and live in the Hamptons so super cars have a different meaning to me.
Come to think of it, you're not the first person to give me that reply.
Theres just something about price and performance that I like in any product. I also like underdogs.

Thanks. And, exactly why I like the Mustang. I have had no issues going head to head with any $65k or less vehicle with my $30k GT that has about $3k in suspension and after cat exhaust work. Nothing else! No tune, no slicks, no Air filter changes. Nothing.

Not to mention I get 28mpg on the highway when I cruze...

Yeah I guess. I guess I like the exotics too much to ever care what other people thought of me for the car I decided to drive......life is too short.

I do know what you mean though. There is a section of Vancouver where you can go and on a weekend and it is Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche, Maseratti repeat....

Where do you live afterburner?

What I like about my current geographic location is my 5 minute walk right over to Roush Performance... While its no Shelby I go and watch them transform basic GTs into their Roush Stage 1,2, and 3... If you ever get a chance to see how your GT350 was crafted take it right away!!! It's so cool!!!

The Shelby's cool, but I'd much rather have a Challenger SRT Hellcat. 707 HP, 0-60 in 3.6 sec., 10.8 sec. quarter. And it looks utterly bad ass.

I'm kinda biased for Mopar since I've owned a Roadrunner, Barracuda, and Charger. Now all I need is a spare $65k.

Congrats.  That's one of two versions of the S550 that I would consider owning personally.   While I like the new platform, I don't personally want one beyond the Halo cars.

Still, I have to admit to being a tad bit jealous.  The aero and body kit on the GT350 really makes it look much more different and aggressive.

My biggest gripe about all the new cars is that they're all pretty hefty and the manufacturers continue to add more and more useless (and standard) fluff to the cars.

Test drove a Hellcat? Pix or it didn't happen.

You can have your opinion, but I'm sure quite a few people would disagree with you. Looks like they're selling them out faster than they can be produced.

I test drove a 2010 SRT at the time at Albany Dodge in upstate NY, and though I couldn't get on it really hard since the dealer was with me, it was a great car nonetheless.

I took pix, it was this exact Bright Silver Metallic one here:

Welp, that's $15k (23%) more than a fully decked-out Hellcat, and GL finding charging stations. And, I don't think either car would be far from the other in accel, handling, etc.

But you guys just want to argue, so I'm out.

Well I don't desire to argue, but I just find the hellcat silly. It's mostly a 'status car'. Does it look good? Yes. Is it practical? Nah. But then again, is any muscle car really practical? No. It's all personal preference, I don't care that my Mustang is 1/3 that of the hellcat, because it's what I like. I hope someday I'll get it to about 60% of a hellcat, but who knows.

Digging the color, but not the car itself, I think the new body is hideous compared to prior years.  Isn't this thing going to weigh close to 4,000lbs?

No. It's all personal preference, I don't care that my Mustang is 1/3 that of the hellcat, because it's what I like. I hope someday I'll get it to about 60% of a hellcat, but who knows.

Well, they're ALL silly, for that matter. I mean, 99.99% of people "need" a $60k car like they need another hole in the head. Unless it's for a special purpose, etc.

And yeah, it's just preference. I've owned all of the Big 3. I had a '70 Monte Carlo that I liked, a '78 T-bird too. I've always liked big-ass Lincolns, Caddys, Chryslers, Plymouths, Pontiacs, Mercurys...because that's what many in my family always had.

My first car was a '70 Chrysler Newport with a 440 and power-everything. That was a serious whorewagon/partymobile, 6 people no prob. lol A good friend back then had a '65 or '66 Mustang. He was dating a girl and I dated her sister, so we were always swapping rides and going out together. Fun times for sure.

Digging the color, but not the car itself, I think the new body is hideous compared to prior years.  Isn't this thing going to weigh close to 4,000lbs?

Should be around 3,500 lbs.

I think the GT350R will be around 3,600lbs.

The curb weight of the GT350 is one different story. Basing our curb-weight estimate on the widespread, comparo- and 10Best-winning 3810-pound GT is a given. It’s a acknowledged quantity. However, there are quite a few modifications which will change weight. For the first time ever, Ford is utilizing magnetorheological dampers in a single amongst its cars. These dampers will add some weight, and whereas it gained’t be rather a lot, they’re undoubtedly heavier (along with all the supporting doodads) than the GT’s dampers. The extra mass is correctly worth the extra benefit of continually variable damping, which may improve launch traction and may nearly undoubtedly improve upon the journey/coping with stability that the GT virtually masters. Moreover, the GT350’s entrance brakes measure 15.5 inches in diameter and the rears are merely zero.5-inch smaller. These aren’t lightweight carbon-ceramic rotors, nevertheless considerably iron friction surfaces with an aluminum hat. Each strategy, they’re together with mass to the straight-line equation.

All good cars man. And we all earn our own coin, how we spend it is one of the reasons we value our fallen/injured/perfectly healthy military personnel. Without their sacrifice, none of this would be possible.

I'll I can add... Is these new sports/pony/muscle cars are worth every penny. And we know are are blessed to own one...
