It seems harder to get the same cpu overclocks. At least for those needing k-boost. But memory side got much faster. Cannot get a good 2666 anymore though.

Similar observations here, also a K-boost user.  Although I was able to achieve the same (very conservative) overclock, it required more voltage to achieve it. I would guess that the maximum achievable clock would be lower on 2.10, than 2.09.  I did not do much memory testing, but I did not experience any memory related issues with everything set the same as it was in 2.09.

What is the issue with the GT 240, that seems to be a real low if not the lowest end Video Card that you can buy today?

That it runs at PCIe 1 when it should run at PCIe 2. And I know that is a low card but when I bought it, that was biggest one I could fit into a the Dell system I had and newest set of cards out back in 2009 or 2010 or so. Haven't been able to afford a new card, otherwise I would RMA this board and get a new graphics card....College student=broke as hell.

I'm not denying that it's a bug and that it should get fixed. However would a 240GT even saturate PCI-E 1 bandwidth? If not. Then it's a non-issue really.

I do see a performance difference when it is on x1 to x8 to x16 because HD videos pause some x8 and SD video pauses on x1. Makes skype hard cause the video incoming to me looks pausey from the graphics card and I can't even watch videos smoothly. At least on x16, it all seems to flow fairly smoothly. When I did an RMA back in September, it was for the PCIe 1 issue and when I got the RMA board, it was doing the same thing as the other board so I called them and they said yeah it was BIOs issue and were working on it. Haven't heard since then if they have a fix or not. If I had known it was BIOs, I wouldn't have done the RMA. Could've used the $40+ for shipping and packing elsewhere.

That's fair enough. I didn't realise it would produce that performance issue.

I still have the beep... which reminds me to change the recording on the answering machine.  Still no go on my RAM but that's okay it was on the not approved list so I set it manually.  Everything else is okay.

Yeah, at first when it happened in August when I got the Dark, I thought it was my internet but it was buffering fully so it comes to the graphics card.

Really want EVGA to respond to this tomorrow, every-time I post, they don't reply to me, yet they help others with ease.

I see now, this has nothing to do with the X79 Dark Bios Version 2.10.
I have the same video card installed in my Dads PC, it is a Dell as well and I will check to see what his is running at.

Has anyone else here been using the marvell controller for extra hard drives? When a drive is plugged into it, the hdd indicator stays solid no matter what. Ive seen many others with this issue and I was hoping this update and many others would fix it. Went to tech support to ask about it and they said it is a known issue and that I myself would have to contact marvell. This has been an issue Since day 1. I have always been a fan of and used mainly evga but seriously, why are you asking the consumer to contact marvell when the chip shouldnt have been on the board in the first place with this issue. Or the board shouldnt have been released with it. I am extremely frustrated. Makes troubleshooting very difficult.

Even though that won't help ya - I try to avoid using any marvell or realtek controllers. A better choice would be a pcie controller card, but I agree with you saying it should not have been this way.

P.S. I am glad those NICs are Intel ones.

Yeah I usually do but for whatever reason I didn't expect them to release a board with this issue. Strangly enough realtek hasnt been terrible for me but marvell is a nightmare. Ill contact them anyway but I really feel evga should be making the push for us consumers.

I was using the Marvell controller for my Samsung SSD up until two days ago. Not only did I have the always-on HDD activity LED glitch, but my system would "hang" for fractions of a second, occasionally. As soon as I moved the SSD to the Intel ports (I am using the two 6G ones for RAID 0 SSD's, so I used a 3G one), the activity LED and system hanging stopped. More than likely its a driver problem, but who knows. I'm avoiding the Marvell ports from now on.

Another issue I noticed with using the Marvell ports is that when you have a SATA device plugged into them, one of the PCI-Express lane indicator LED's will flash green, which is odd. Once I stopped using the Marvell ports, the flashing PCI-e indicator stopped.

I think the general consensus on this board, is it is better to use the Intel 3g port for SSD than even the Marvel 6g ports, assuming the two Intel 6g's are already occupied.
Which is sad, considering the number of Marvel ports we have... I so wish something could be done to correct that.
I currently have two Samsung 256 GB Pro's in my two Intel ports, if I were to add another I would use an Intel 3g port...

Indeed. Smooth and comfortable. Dunno how it's under cold but the water fraction is getting some nice and stable clocks. Depends on your cpu and ram as well, of course.

I am having a problem with my SATA Bluray player. When I connect mine to this board, the board has a hard time "reading" or "detecting" the SATA drive. I know one of the BIOS update released before had a "fix" for problems with Bluray players so I am wondering how come I'm still having mine drop off/no detect. There are times it does detect my Bluray but then it drops off and my computer "freezes" trying to locate it, when I unplug the power off my SATA drive then the computer goes back to normal (it stops trying to find it or making it work). Is there a tech or someone I can talk to that is knowledgeable on this issue and can help me find a fix for it? I know that many don't use Bluray players anymore but I still do. My drive is plugged into an Intel SATA2 ports. Also, this drive works great with my other computers that I have tried so for sure its just this motherboard.

Thanks.

@ Luigi408,  I have a Bluray player/burner and a DVD player/burner installed & connected to two of the Intel Sata2 ports and no issue's here with any BIOS revision since day one.

If you have your BR player set up 1st in your boot order in BIOS, try changing it to after your boot drive or try what I do, disable it all together until you actually need to boot from it.

You may also want to look in your Sata config section under the "Advanced" tab and make sure the sata port (hot plug) your BR player is connected to isn't enabled.

These pics are from when I was using BIOS revision 2.02, but I still use the same settings on these pages today with rev 2.10.

Thank you. I checked my settings and they are all correct as you said. Hmm... not sure what it can be. Thank you.

I've been testing out 2.10 tonight and am very happy with it.  I've been on 2.7 for awhile because it's worked well for me and I haven't had any issues.  I run portrait surround, so the mouse issue was never a big deal to me.  (Hard enough to navigate with my head tilted. :P )  So far it seems as though I don't need any addition voltage for my 4.9Ghz overclock. For some reason my CPU likes straps and setting it to 122.5x40 gives me the 4.9 with the least amount of voltage at 1.445 with 80% vdroop which makes it about 1.425-1.43 under load which is perfectly acceptable to me.   However, that is one of my major complaints, and reason I haven't updated to any later bios up until now... I don't have the ability to set my vdroop "disabled."  I realize there is a disabled setting, but 1.425 in the bios results in up to 1.49 and occasional spikes to 1.5 under load.  I just want to be able to set 1.425 in the bios and it stay like that under load.   I'd really like to see more options as far as the vdroop setting goes.

Thanks.

Check on the power connections to the bluray player and see if its fully latched in, try swapping the data cable too.

I second that Sata cable! I had a small crack in one mine that was connected to my boot drive, it only worked MOST of the time
and it drove me nuts dxing it. I know to check them now should such things happen again.

Need Help!

I updated the BIOS from 2.0.7 to 2.10 and now my system does not POST anymore. I see the post LED showing "C" and then "19" and the system shuts down. I am using 4930K(Ivy Bridige-E) so I have to use BIOS 3 only. I can't use the other two BIOS's unless someone tell me how to upgrade without getting POST. Maybe I should have updated those while I had the running system.

Did you flash the new BIOS in Winows?  If so, were you running a default BIOS (no overclocks) at the time?  Can you get into the BIOS now?

Have to tried starting your PC using the "clear CMOS" button located either in the upper right hand corner of the mobo, or on the I/O panel under the top USB ports??

And yes, you should have flashed your new BIOS rev to a different BIOS chip in position 1 or 2.  To do that, you boot into Windows using a BIOS that has been working fine.  Once in Windows (with PC running), you move the bios selector switch to a different position.  Then when you flash the new BIOS, it will flash to the BIOS chip that you moved your selector switch to.

After it's done flashing, it will shut down.  When you boot back up it will be booting on your new revision.
