I also thought raising bclk would increase ram bw and lower latencies. From first tests I gotta tell ya - my system got slower. At least on the ram side. Weird. It seems there are some timings being loosened as soon as you increase your bclk just one notch.

I have to look into it further.

If you set your ram to say 2400, then increase the bclk, the ram speed will adjust up accordingly.  If you have your timings and subs set to auto, they will loosen up to accomodate for the higher mem speed.

There's a couple ways to stop this.  First, if your ram is rated for 2400 lets say, you can set it manually in bios to the next step lower (2133).  As you raise the bclk, the mem speed will also increase incrementely.
The 2nd way, which is what I do, is set your mem speed to a lower speed (I use 1333), then reboot back to bios.  Now manually set your timings & as many subs as you like to where they show they are on auto.  I set the first four timings to mfg'r specs.  I then set the next 8 timings to what using "auto" configures.  I find these timings to be quite low because of using 1333 for my starting point.

Using the 2nd method, the only timing I've had to adjust (loosen) going from 1333 to 1714 mem speed, is the tRFC.  It starts out at 128 at 1333 and I can run it stable at 146 at 1714MHz.  To make it easy to remember, I just set mine to 150.

Post up a pic of the bios page showing what you're talking about.  Maybe someone will have some suggestions as to what's going on.

What Ports are you using for your H100i, I found issues if I used 8/9 on the MB and used 6/7 with no problems.

Unless you think it's causing some kind of issue, I wouldn't worry about what that shows.  It's possibe that before Windows loads, that is how the bios interupts different items plugged into your USB ports?  Not sure.  But the reason I say this is, I have no issue's with anything functioning as it should and my USB config bios page shows 1 Drive, 3 keyboards, 1 mouse, and 5 hubs.

No I don't think its a problem someone earlier posted they had 1 keyboard 2 mice I was just posting what I had.
But maybe there was a problem when you asked me for the picture lol.

Bud, you misunderstood me.  I know how to tweak my ram / system. I am setting nearly every of my timings manually. What I wanted to tell people, is:If you are using either- bclk on top of your 1866, 2133 or higher multiplier (and 100MHz bclk) to add performance, you actually seem to loose it as performance is dropping.- 2400 multi instead of 2133 or lower, you are getting slower. See here: click. The cause for 2133 -> 2400 is relatively clear: the tertiary timings and other subs get relaxed as some of them ain't stable any more (b2b cas delay or T_CCD). But what I can't understand: why does performance get reduced when it should get boosted. Especially when you keep your timings and stuff just upping bclk one or two MHz! I can only guess there are some IMC parameters getting slackened...

/edit.
After some slight testing w/2.10 I must admit things have obviously changed with that new revision. BW and latency are a bit slower at 2133 now, but 2400 is noticeably faster (benchmarks). Have to do more testing.

//edit.
Wow! Sandra bandwidth increased by 3-4GB at 2400 10-12-12-28! Great job, EVGA!
My FFT performance in y-cruncher was raised by nearly 8% vs my stable 2664 MHz setting w/bios 2.09!!!

And thanks for fulfilling my wish enabling me to set tertiary timings to zero. Thumbs up!

I still had the erratic mouse movement in the BIOS with this 2.10 version, I looked at what it was detecting for USB input devices and noticed it said 1 keyboard, 2 mice and one pointer.  Had a Microsoft sidewinder precision pro USB joystick plugged in also and while in the BIOS I unplugged the joystick and the mouse instantly starting working correctly.

+1 This. I had been having issues as well. I have a joystick also and I remember when I was having the issues it was plugged in. Also another time, I had the issues again, but my joystick hadn't been plugged in, but my webcam was. Unplugged it for s & g's and it was fine. Funny how both things that caused the issues are Logitech. So glad I'm dropping them after years of use and problematic issues that never went away!

IDK if you can blame this issue on Logitech, seems to me it is the BIOS that is the issue,
mistaking other peripherals as a mouse.

Well this rev works the same as the previous for me With the exception that the mouse before is far worse then 2.09

I had to unplug the mouse just so I could save my profile before exiting.

I must say I am really excited. The ram side has gotten so much better now. 😆

I am quite interested in what you get in Sisoft Sandra mem bandwidth bench. 😊
AIDA got slower and Sandra scores got boosted. My y-cruncher results approve Sandra's scores.

I have to check for bclk effects and at 2666MHz though.

What I noticed about offset and k-boost: I could run 4.5 w/out k-boost the day before yesterday.
Using 2.10 changed that.

I've never used this sis sandra software before.  Just DL'd it and ran the mem becnchmark.  Trying to figure out exactly what I'm looking at for results here...

My rank # is 2700.  Says higher than 97.99% results.  Also says excellent performance and my score is 40.350GB/s.

When I have more time I'll need to examine this software closer to get a better idea of what I'm doing...

Thanks bud. 😃
That software is similar to AIDA64. I've already been using it 10 years ago. In my eyes its results for the memory performance are resembling truth better than that buggy AIDA cache/mem benchmark. Its feedback to timing changes is better, your results get saved and you can compare them to others'.

/edit. I get 48GBps at 4.5/2400 10-12-12-28 with 2.10. Before I was only getting 44GBps at 2400 and 45-46GBps at 2666 11-13-13-30.

Thanks bud.

Ok, here's my mem benchmark running at 4.50GHZ (35x128.75) & mem speed at 1715MHz (9,10,9,28,1N):

Nice results, bud! I get 50.6GBps at 2664, but I did not get it stable yesterday. Have to RMA my GTX. Artifacts even on desktop.

Re: EVGA X79 Dark - BIOS 2.10 Released 2014/02/26 11:32:57 (permalink)
Thanks.  I didn't think it was too shabby for the ram speed I'm running at.  I have one more where I ran 4.420GHz (38x116.25) and memory at 1860 (9,10,9,28,1N) for a score of 43.133GB/s.

EVGA's BIOS team did a nice job with this latest bios revision (2.10).  Primarily where the ram is concerned.  I thought I just had a very weak IMC because I had a hard time running any ram speed over 1715 without using way to much VCCIO and a bit extra Vcore.  Now I'm able to run 1884 mem speed stable, (10 runs IBT) using the same Vcore & VCCIO/VSA I use for anything between 1600 & 1715 mem speed.

Great job EVGA on this BIOS revision...  Everything is running & working perfectly...

Once you get it stabilized, that's a real nice score XS...

Could not update from UPDATE.bat file from desktop;
UPDATE.bat > windows smartscreen > press more info > run anyway > cmd box > smartscreen > run anyway > press Y > Y pressed > "The system cannot find the path specified. "fptw64" is not recognized as external command..." >Finish update > press any key for restart >>>>>>>>>>>>>>DID NOT restart or update...................FAILED!

This SOLUTION worked for me;
Downloaded and ran Rufus, a program for creating bootable usb drives, totally FREE, no crap, 571kb;
http://rufus.akeo.ie/

Left settings as shown on main website page, except chose MS-DOS from drop down menu. Formatted drive.
Set BIOS to boot from USB KEY.
Reboot.
Type "update" then ENTER.
Flashing drive starts and finishes.
Bios 2.10 working and all good.

I'm a beginner, I've just migrated to new X79 Dark mobo, my raid 0 setup with Windows 8.1 OS is from my previous X79 Dark mobo.
Can anyone tell me if I should do a clean install of Windows or if there are any effects of migrating old OS to new mobo (if you get me)?

Thanks

I never blamed them for the issues, I just said it was funny how both of them were Logitech. I guess I need to be more clear on what I mean. I have had problems with them for years, not saying they don't make good stuff, I'm sure they have one good mouse out there somewhere.
