Asus rog swift 27" g-sync monitor that can do 2560x1440 at 165hz! I love playing 4k gaming on it with well over 100-140 fps or 5k with br4 with 100-120 fps using Nvidia dsr setting in the control panel! Can't do that with a 4k monitor locked at 60hz.

DSR is great, however, it doesn't compare to true 4k. Still waiting on a true 4k 144Hz display.

Yeah but it will forsure hold me till a 100-120hz GSYNC 4k monitor hits.. I love my high frame rate so no chance for me to go back to 60hz.

I play in 1080p at 60hz (hence the 60fps locked [vsync on is what I probably should have said]). GFX settings maxed out and my outdated CPU is a 4670K. Today I didn't encounter problems but I've had the most lockups and the checkerboard-like memory issues in OW. Strangest thing is that I've played Deus Ex: MD and Rise of the Tomb Raider with the memory OCed by 500MHz without any problems. For now I just have the core clock offset to +210MHz and that's it. At least for me, my GPU worries can keep me occupied while I browse around for the perfect 1440p and high refresh rate monitor. I love playing games in higher hz than 60. Looks so surreal/augmented realistic (?)

So, are you retracting your statement that you need to overclock the memory to obtain 60 FPS in Overwatch?  Before, you said that you need to overclock the memory, and since overclocking the memory causes you stability issues, this issue needs to be fixed.  Now that I have pointed out that Overwatch doesn't need that much graphics power, you are saying that it is unstable with a memory overclock when you want to overclock the memory.  Overwatch should be running between 150 and 200 FPS at 1080p.  No overclock needed.

Is that what I said in the first post I made? I didn't mean to. What is this, some sort of GPU legal investigations court? All I tried to say is a more stressful OC on more stressing games such as RotTR and DE:MD ran fine but I've had more stability problems in OW with a lesser memory OC.

It's not a trial, but if you appear to demand something based on false or misleading information, it makes people (me) question your statement.

ianfinity
We need this badly (demand), I encounter so much problems playing Overwatch with the FPS locked (claiming that you can't get performance to reach the minimum FPS necessary in Overwatch to use/match vsync) and only with a core clock OC (claiming that you need the memory overclock to be available because just a core overclock on its own doesn't yield enough performance).

Excuuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess. For my lack of accurate tech terminology lmao! You're making yourself sound like a bureaucratic version of HK-47; I totally dig how you think you know online human psychology.

EDIT: I've seen this kind of snobbery attitude on old school style forums many moons ago and I'm semi-glad that hasn't changed one bit. FLAME ON

Here we go again....entitled noobish-ness. LMFAO! No overclock is guaranteed beyond EVGA factory overclock.

Okay, it might not be a guarantee but an OC that has worked just fine in the past suddenly crapped out. Did I just wear out the GPU over 2 months? I'd be damn surprised if I did.

Just because your overclock works fine in other games doesn't mean it will work fine in all other applications. Different games will stress the gpu differently and could throw your once thought stable overclock out of whack.

Curious.... You said that RoTTR and Deus Ex ran "with no problems" with your overclock, but it crashed on Overwatch, yet you get well over 150FPS, but your monitor is 1080P locked at 60fps... What reason do you have to overclock on overwatch? Tyger's sole point is that overwatch is not a high demanding game and there should be no reason to overclock your video card. Why are you overclocking when it's crashing the video card when overwatch takes zero power to run? That is his point. You don't need to overclock Overwatch when you're crashing because of the overclock.

And yes, Tyger knows what he's talking about. He was probably dumbfounded like I am on why you're overclocking overwatch when that game takes no power to run. Zero power...

Funny. Rise of the Tomb Raider crashed frequently for me when I had ANY (manual) overclock running. When GPU oc'd itself within power/temp limits, RotTR would run just fine! Might be fixed by the patch that went out 3 days ago with anniversary edition, no?
Besides, I do also have 1070FTW with Micron onboard. Runs rock stable, until I save (click "APPLY") manual OC with memory freq added more than 300. Then the famous checkerboard shows up. But without touching memory myself it runs like a charm.

nice to hear that, thanks.
hopefully this will be better than what palit and gainward has just released as their bios seems nothing to do with idle crashing issue.

have you guys ever planned to release another 1070 ftw bios that has higher power limit? as the current 226w for 1070 ftw max power limit is simply unbalanced and wasting the dual 8 pins and ten phases of 350a current output capability. i already reached 226w when i played bf1 beta and thats shame.

Nice, i also have a GTX1070 FTW with Micron and my max stable OC is +520(~9064Mhz). Let's see if the new vbios improve things.

Will this have any use for cards with Samsung memory? Or is it strictly for Micron cards?
