The more I look at that car the more it reminds me of a Mustang.

Only 0.1 seconds ahead and 1-mph faster than the gt500 while running an automatic + 45 extra hp & 19 extra lb-ft of torque over the gt500? Hardly anything to brag about there sir. The new ZL1 is suppose to be 200 pounds lighter, however, no official specs have been posted yet. 200 pounds less puts it right in the range of what the 14 gt500 weighs. The new ZL1 will also have 22 less hp than the gt500. I love how chevy and dodge are using 6.2L engines versus ford's 5.8L.



You do know Ford did not build the GT500 you're referring to, right? Shelby built that car. That's like comparing a Callaway or Hennessy built car to the Challenger Hellcat.

They look nothing alike, except both have four tires. The Mustang looks like a fish out of water and the Camaro looks like a lean mean fighting machine.

I have to agree, except the Mustang looks 1000 times better.


Oh yeah they both are two door cars, except the Camaro looks 2,000 times better.

Nope, never have I EVER, been pulled by a Honda...  Pushrod technology is actually not that old, considering the first OHV and first OHC engine designs were patented in the same year, 1902.  Who knows, maybe GM are a visionary and everyone else needs to get with the times?

Why do you guys always have to argue about which car is better or which company is better? Your not getting paid to advertise each car or each company so why even bother to put effort into an argument of which is better? Anyways its not like any of you in this thread are going to buy any of those stupid cars. Heck I bet most of you cant even afford any of those cars with how much debt most of yall are probably in.

Well, it'd be a first. I'd get embarrassed. The CBR 1000RR should be able to pull almost anything from the factory. If I were to choose a car right now it'd be between a Colorado Z71 offroad or a 2012 Mustang GT. That's if I can't find an 04 GTO. I will always be a Pontiac fanboy. It's also not an opinion when it comes to the technology front.

What are you talking about? I'm not talking about the super snake. The 2014 Shelby GT500 just uses the shelby name. The car is built and assembled by ford. The heart of the car uses a hand-built 5.8L from ford's special vehicles team (SVT).
 

 
The two signatures on the plate are the two techs from the svt department over at ford who built and assembled the engine.

Ford eventually acquired the rights to stamp "Shelby" on just about anything toward the end of Carroll Shelby's life.  And yes, your technology standpoint is an opinion, there is nothing that can factually declare anyone better than the other... they all do "stuff" their own way.

Yup, GT 500 is made by Ford.

The GT500 is built on the same production line as every other Mustang in the Auto Alliance International facility in Flat Rock, Michigan.

The engines are assembled by hand in Ford's Romeo engine facility. They are then shipped to the Alliance International facility to be installed in the GT500.

Ford's SVT group designed and engineered the vehicle as the replacement vehicle for the '03-'04 Cobras. The internal name Ford assigned to the car was "Condor". The GT500 would have been produced as a Cobra if it had not been for the fact that Ford and Shelby came to terms over their past issues and struck a deal by which the "Condor" would be branded with Shelby's name and GT500 moniker instead of being released as a "Cobra" Mustang.

The GT500 never sees Carroll Shelby's Las Vegas facility and not a single part on the GT500 is anything other than what is produced by the Ford Motor Company.

GT500's are not "tuned" by Shelby, they are calibrated by Ford just like every other Mustang produced.

This isn't true at all. While GM, and Chrysler took billions from TARP, "the bailout fund", Ford borrowed around $15 billion from TALF.....another wing of government that lends money. They used this money to avoid bankruptcy and modernize their factories. So they did borrow billions from the Federal government.

I'm still proud of Ford as a company. They were the only company who didn't need to be saved by billions of dollars from the federal government during the financial crisis.


This isn't true at all. While GM, and Chrysler took billions from TARP, "the bailout fund", Ford borrowed around $15 billion from TALF.....another wing of government that lends money. They used this money to avoid bankruptcy and modernize their factories. So they did borrow billions from the Federal government.

But every penny was paid back by Ford, GM screwed the tax payers out of billions of dollars.
Not to mention the union workers made out like bandits while the bond holders got what the taxpayers got.....


False.  Ford is the only of the big three who owes money.
 
Ford received $15 million from TALF, begged to be included in a $25 billion dollar Dept of Energy program, taken out another federal loan for $23 billion... please do not think that taxpayer money was NOT included in this as literally every cent of it came from we the citizens.
 
Also, please consider the fact that Ford should have been terminated back under the Reagan administration when 23,000,000 vehicles were recalled for defective transmissions that killed like 200 people and injured like 1,400 others.  Instead of making Ford recall 23 million vehicles, about every Ford on the road, they decided to mail out stickers basically saying "this car might kill you."
 
Please... Ford is by far has the worst reputation of the corruption that has interlaced the American auto industry.
 
There's a great read on it by a since deceased foreman who worked in the plant that built the transmission, it is called A Savage Factory by Robert Dewar.

The reason they lost money is because the Treasury decided to sell those stocks before the stock came back to normal price. They could have actually made money off this.
 
As for Ford not needing the bailout money. The reason is Ford was in worse shape then GM and leveraged the whole company on a loan two years before the recession.
