Do you guys think the ti version is going to dwarf the 1080 kind of like how it always does? The 1080 is already beast. I've been saving for the 1080 but I wonder if I should wait for the ti

well, i guess as always the TI will be released in about half year give or take. and yes it will be faster then 1080... will have about 3000 cuda cores and will have more performance . same as 780 VS TI and 980 vs TI... they just add more Cores and boom you have a faster card :)

The 1080 is nice with that higher transfer rate GDDR5+ RAM but it might be nice to see some HBM modules on a 1080 ti. I am waiting to see what the future brings just because my 980 SLI kicks any game I have in the behind.

    Hey,

i know, speculation is always that, speculation. However videocardz wrote, based on VR-World/Bright-Side-Of-News,
that 1080ti and Titan P(ascal) might already be announced in mid-august at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany:

since you already have a pc... wait.

having said that, if their release is anything like the 80 and 70, you could be waiting until next year (or 5-6 months after release) for decent prices. Now that I have my pc built, and a 1070 sc, I will be waiting until the prices drop on ti's before picking one up and hopefully that will last me a couple years.

The card I have is the GTX 580 , so a 1080 will be a massive upgrade for me.
I figure 1080ti will come out early next year, and doing the waiting game will lead you to endless waiting.
Just sell the 1080 just before release of 1080ti and get a good chunk of the money back.

This is my state at the moment, minus the Volta lol...

I'm still rocking a GTX 780 SC that I got at launch (First few minutes of launch on newegg lol)... Never been overclocked tho I should have, it has an ASIC score of 98%... After seeing the way the 1080 is going, and how I have no time to watch for cards to appear. I'm pretty settled in the idea of just waiting for the 1080ti's at this point. Volta would be nice, but I'm not sure I can wait that long. My 780 is still a great card as far as I am concerned, but I am in need up an upgrade in my opinion. Besides, my girlfriend is rocking her 760, i'm sure she'd like my 780 as a free upgrade. :)

Well depends on how much you want to spend and what resolution/hz you are wanted to play games at. If you want 1440p at 144-165 hz then you need 2 1080 ti's or 2 titans P to get that with ultra presets in todays and tomorrows AAA titles, the same goes for 4k at 60 or more hz. You should plan to drop 2k-3.5k on a pair of cards :(

I doubt you'll see much of a performance gain with these 1080s. They ALL max out around 2050-2150. IF the Classified comes voltage unlocked (if that's even possible?), then it might be worth it. I should have gotten the $609 EVGA 1080, but couldn't find it in stock and opted for the excessively large, double 8 pin FTW that won't overclock much more than any other 1080. At least I'll be able to sell it later on at a slightly higher used price.

Just get the 1080. Trust me. You won't be disappointed. I just dropped in a 1080 FTW in my rig and holy cow this thing is fast.....

I am super impressed with this card.  I just put it in tonight and coming from a EVGA 780ti SC, all I can say is wow....Heaven benchmark with nothing changed except the card was a 74% increase in bench mark score.   I ran the test three times just to make sure.  Now I need a bigger monitor.  Unless you plan on running 4K, the 1080 will handle anything you throw at it.

Well considering his rig has a 970, I would expect him to see even more performance gain that what I saw.

I wait to see how much will cost GTX1080Ti than I will decide.
But best option is probably GTX1080 SLI. If someone have plan to buy GTX1080 SLI he don't need to wait GTX1080Ti or TITAN.
That's best gaming setup for 2016/2017.

    I will go on GTX1080 99%.
Maybe if price drop for 15 months I even try first time SLI.
Now is best moment for SLI if someone want to try and not only because SLI look much better than single graphic card when sit alone in case...
TITAN with 12GB and 30% stronger will cost 400$+ more.
EVGA GTX1080 Gaming SLI cost 1200$... They need only Hybrid cooler.
Even Founders Edition SLI is far far better than TITAN X.
With Maxwell generation premium chip was 50% better than high end.
And he offered 8GB more video memory. Now difference is only 30% and 4GB more video memory. That's not fair.
That card worth 900$ MAX. People should concentrate on GTX1080 SLI and good cooling and that's best until Volta show up.

The Titan X Pascal will be out for sale on August 2 and there is no sign for the 1080Ti. I think that NVIDIA will not release a GTX 1080 Ti, only the Titan at a price that will empty my wallet. I have a GTX 1080 SC and work perfectly well at a resolution of 3440x1440p, so why wait if you don't need that extra performance.

The 1080 will be more than enough for you. Apparently there are rumours going about that no Ti this time around, so we ll see. If you want more power, go Titan XP
