Just got this yesterday from Newegg. With stock settings getting temps while playing overwatch and csgo between 70-75c. Seems a bit high or is this normal? Using Precision software set fans to aggressive and temps are between 50s-65c.

Have anyone reapplied the thermal compound on the 1060? I have one coming to replace my GTX 970 and I was wondering if doing that would help with the temperatures.

It could help if the card needs it.

    I have a fractal r5 and my i7 6700k skylake idles around ~20c and gaming doesn't go above 50c. Ambient around 70f

Mine hit 80c on Overwatch when "frame cap" set to 300, and 70c when "frame cap" set to match display (70 fps).
    Room temp is around 30c.
    Idle is about 36c.
Using stock curve on the old bios.

Temps of 70-77c are pretty normal for gpus with low rpm fan curves... it won't damage the card in the short or long run... on the superclocked 1060, people used to see temps of 60-65c, because the first BIOS release (the one without 0db fan) had the aggressive fan curve by default. On that bios the lowest the fan would go was 47-48%. The new BIOS (0db fan one) have a more conservative and low fan curve, that's why the temps are a bit higher, but again, 75c on a gpu is OK.

If you're not sensitive to sound (when the fan gets above 1500 RPM there's bit of an airliner sound to it) you can use an aggressive fan curve (make your own so it shuts off below 56 C—that's what the stock fan curve does).

The benefit of keeping it lower than 70 C is that the card won't throttle itself. The performance difference is mostly negligible, but if you care you can keep it lower.

I have the GB Mini 6GB 1060 and the temps reach a max of 60C @ 2080MHz and 60% fan speed.. at least in 1440p GTA Online.

The 1060 really makes an excellent backup card for me!

My new 1060 SC is running at over 60C at idle.  Now I am worried that my card is a lemon.
