The fan in my evga 210 video card is failing badly.  I have a low profile/small form factor case with a small stock power supply 300w.  This really limited what gpu card I could use.

Anyway.  I have a ticket open with EVGA to see what they can do for me but does anyone know of an alternative to sending it in to be replaced?  I dont want to be without my computer for that time.

I was trying to get an aftermarket cooler but i couldnt find one that fits in the case and on the card.

Anyone know of an after market heat sink for a small case? or are there replacement fans that would fit?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I found http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16835119083 on newegg, it's a 50mm fan, assuming its the right size you could put it in with thermal tape.(if the screws don't align right) Although that might take a lot longer than you want.

Or if you could just tape a fan on top of the heatsink if there's enough room.

If the screws don't align, there is no gaurantee the cooler is making the proper contact and pressure on the GPU die.  If the GPU should overheat as a result of improper installment, you may loose your warranty.  We're allowed to change the cooler, the TIM and even overclocking; but if it gets damaged as a result, we aren't covered anymore.

I too advise an RMA as oppsed to changing the cooler yourself unless you're sure about aligning the holes, and if necessary pay for the fastest shipping available.  Or, get a cheap temporary replacement in the meantime.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

Thank you all for your responses.  I think i will look up the newegg option.  I got a RMA number from the support people but with the shipping and down time vs. getting a new card it may just be easier.

in the mean time, I like the idea of just strapping a fan across the existing card.  i will give that a try and see if it can keep the  tempuratures right.  there isnt a lot of space in there but I think i have a small fan i got for another pc sometime ago.

If anyone finds another option please let me know.  from what i have been able to gather pretty much all the after market coolers are for teh higher end cards.

    Thanks,

    As an update:

I found a fan on ebay for $8 that has the same dimensions as the stock fan.  it is a 45mm fan with 39mm between mounting holes.  apparently its for an ATI card.  it looks like the blades sweap the other direction.

Shipping is very slow since it is coming from china.  fingers crossed.

    45mm fan is too big.

    I have this same problem.

here is a thing to remember, just liek your CPU heatsink fan..it is replaceable. yo udo not need the exact same part# as the one that has failed. you can buy thermal pads, thermal grease and the heatsink fan assembly that would fit your specs of the video card. i took off a fan from a ATI Video card and applied it to my nvidia vid card and it works fine..just got to make sure tha tthe fan size is exact with the other...foxconnbiotek..etcetc doesnt matter of brand name..the size of the fan is the only think to go by. also yo ucan custom the holes with a dremel or dewalt drill with the tiny little drill bit of course...remember that ironman customized his own ****..so we can too hahaahaha!!! enjoy my friend

honestly the GT210 is so cool running, find a northbridge heatsink/fan that will fit and put it on. You can also use thermal adhesive to gurantee a good fit.

Here is a link to buy these type of coolers and you can also buy dual fan coolers in bus slots that is close to the videocard(s)
