Is that true???

Most sharks have the ability to breath without moving but essentially sucking in water to pass over their gills. Some species have lost this ability, and must move through water to most efficiently breathe. However, they have ways of resting and still getting oxygen. The shark doesn't actually need to move, just the water. So a shark in the right current or column can rest while the water passes over their gills on its own. There are other conditions that influence this process as well. Sharks have been known to rest in areas where the oxygen level is high and salinity is low, which allows them to get oxygen more easily without actually moving (google "caves of the sleeping sharks"). Reef sharks, which are considered among those who need to move to breathe, have been observed resting on the sea floor as well. So this is based in some truth but not entirely accurate.
