Have you tried uninstalling the Nvidia Audio driver as Sajin suggested above?  If you're using your onboard sound or a soundcard, you shouldn't need that driver and it may be causing a conflict.

No not yet, but it's next on my list.

A complete crash (black screen) followed by an automatic restart sounds like a power supply issue to me.

This doesn't happen very often though. Usually it's just the audio distortion and programs crashing or freezing.

If using HDMI try a different HDMI cable as already suggested. If you have the nvidia hd audio driver installed try uninstalling it to see if that makes a difference. To try and correct the crashing/freezing you could try underclocking the card to max negative values on the core & memory using msi afterburner to see if that might help.

Uninstalling the audio driver seems to have worked! I'm no longer hearing the audio distortion and 3D apps are more stable. Thank you   I never imagined an audio driver could create these issues. I was fully convinced my card was slowly going bad.

Have you tried a new certified DP or HDMI cable?  Maybe the cable you're using is failing.

Plus one for possible bad cable, even a certified one can "wear out" if it's been flexed enough. I would try a new cable first.

While replacing the cables often is a good idea, I haven't ever heard of it doing more than just not giving a display to the monitor. When the computer is crashing it would be something else as a problem however, I wouldn't rule out multiple problems since it's not uncommon for a random issue to seem like it's connected to a common problem.

Sorry not trying to argue with you and I believed the same up until a few days ago when I upgraded to a super ultrawide Samsung HDR display and enabling HDR bsod my computer until I swapped to a different HDMI cable.

Welp, I spoke too soon. The brief audio distortions are back and a game just froze and crashed. The same thing happened when I ddu'ed the card; it was stable for a few days then it went back to displaying the issues before

To know 100% if it's the card you could have a local pc shop test it in their known good working system to see if they can reproduce your issue.
