If I RMA this 850 ga psu will I have to ship cables as well? I’d love to just unhook the cables and swap in another psu…

If you are going to RMA the psu I would email the customer service and get a written response.  The last thing you want is for them to deny your rma after you mailed in your psu and then have to go through the hassles of trying to get it sorted after the fact.  Get it from EVGA, not the forum and do it in writing in case anything goes wrong.
I was just asking about the RMA process in which I would do directly through evga. Was just curious if you RMA a modular power supply do you have to send in the cables as well.

I had an older semi-modular 750 Corsair PSU + MSI 3070 card that when just logging IN to play COD Cold War, the PC would restart. So then I plugged in an older full modular EVGA 750 PSU.. same thing. This only happened with Cold War. Highly modded Skyrim or Fallout 4, no problem. So then I bought a newer model Seasonic 750 PSU, and no problem since. So point of this post, likely the PSU like others mentioned, even if it is only one game at times.

It's usually better to have some headroom in your power supply. Get more than you need. Could solve this problem.

The support will give you a guide what to include with the RMA psu and what not to include and you should follow what they say. All that being said I would NOT advize in favor of keeping the old cables because for all we know it could be a cable fault causing a short circuit that trips a psu protection. Just get a fully refurbished/new PSU or preferably buy a new and bigger one.

Meh. Could be motherboard too. I run a 3080 with 750w psu ...5800x 4.7 ghz all core.. Zero issues.. You dont need a 1000000000 watt psu for 3080s.. Just a reliable one with strong 12v rails. Dont be surprised if you replace your psu and you still get shutdowns.unoptimised bios settings...faulty ram , bad gpu...all can shut down your pc just as quick under load as a bad psu can.

dervin3 did you ever get a definitive answer on which component was the issue video card/PSU/mobo?

you say while adjusting your setttings? You might of been adjusting some settings that are glitched in that game. It could be completely related to the tomb raider game.

Adding my 2 cents here.  Purchased the 850 GA last October to make room for my new 3080.  Experienced the same issues with the PC randomly shutting down.  I called and spoke to their customer service rep and he immediately stopped me when I said it was a GA and offered a replacement, saying that PSU was an issue.  They sent me a brand new 1000w G3 in exchange.

I just had some GPU problems and I recommend investing in 3dMark. Its on Steam right now for $4.50 and gives temps too. If you can, run the 'stress' tests (not just benchmarking) on both this card and one other card with comparable power draw in the same PCIe lane. if you get failures with both cards, then its probably not the GPU that's unstable. Good luck I hope this helps.
