Hi guys. Quick question (waiting for evga to respond on my ticket): I received a rev 0.1 3090 ftw3 ultra because my first card died/popped during New World. I just discovered that the XOC Bios doesnt work. The Card limits the power between ~380-400 watts. I never had this issue with my old one (also rev 0.1). The funny thing is the normal non OC Bios will run up to 420 watts...

Has someone experienced the same issue an solved it?

You should email the 3090 program and get a rev 1.0 card. .1 revs are a ticking time bomb and have not been fixed properly

I mailed the 3090 program and I'm waiting now for a response.

Meanwhile the support ticket has been answered:

"Thank you for coming back with additional Information about BIOS.
Please find one of the latest BIOS supporting 450 watts available for this Graphics card.
VER: 94.02.42.80.AD
and let us know the results after updating the BIOS"

OK, so instead of providing a BIOS the support just lets you know the latest version? oO Didnt see the attachment on the Phone, all good, they supplied a BIOS. I will try it..

Edit.
i tried the BIOS from Techpowerup: VGA Bios Collection: EVGA RTX 3090 24 GB | TechPowerUp

Not getting better...

Edit2.

Test with BIOS provided by EVGA:

No change.

Edit3.

By the way the "1000w Kingpin BIOS" removes the Powerlimit, but i dont want to run it 24/7 because there is no ReBar and i guess no warranty if the card dies with this bios on it? @jacob?

So RMA 2 for me, I received a rev 1.0 card…. All I can say…. It works like these cards should have from the start!!!!!! Pcie slot power never went past 64.7 in test and I haven’t really tried pushing the oc…. Set the oc to +120 and then made a curve for 1.1mv to run at 2145 …. Cube bench ran flawless and board power went up to 470w on the oc stock…. If you can get ur hands on a 1.0 card…. DO IT. I kind of want to try the 1kw KP on it, I heard there was a 1kw with rebar floating around not sure how true that is

22k on cinebench , will try port tomorrow but it seems this card OCs like a champ…. Using it on a aorus master z690 and 1300w supernova g+

Emailed 3090oc@ and RMAd my card after hitting black screen + 100% fan speed repeatedly, also observed out of spec power draw on the PCI-e slot and some imbalance on the 8pins. The replacement was an 0.1 board, didn't have the XOC bios in the OC slot (107% power limit max), and was even more unbalanced in the 8pins (~120-130-70 compared to ~120-100-80 before). Also rebooted within a couple minutes of halo and hit 78.5w in the pci-e slot on the latest stock bios and frequency settings. Plus the fans rattled. I wonder if I got sent someone's RMA return by accident. Currently waiting to hear back about sending it back, but a bit sad I have to wait to get functional again. At least I have a backup older gen card I can use still.

Hello All,

My rev 0.1 FTW3 ultra just died during playing cyberpunk > Red light / Dead

I asked the RMA on it, the answer of evga was instant and RMA approved.
It takes me time to send them the card, as i needed to order some new pad to reinstall the original heatsink, like i was using a waterblock.
They took 1day to send me back a new card, and i received the the following day ... All i can say, evga support is really really excellent !

The new card is rev 1.0 and 450W bios was installed on OC bios.
In a first test, i immediatly see the PCI-E fixed with a 60W max power consumption !
The only thing i could say is, the power balacing is not so good, pushing 50% less TDP on the Third 8PIN connector. My rev 0.1 doesn't have this power balacing problem. It could be a real problem if i wanted to push the 1000W bios and use 600-650W daily (i have a strong cooling with a chiller :) )

After flashing the XOC 500W bios from rev 0.1, the card handle a constant 520W without any problem.
Binning is excellent like the 0.1 rev, +200GPU +1600RAM.

I now know that all my nvidia card will be only EVGA only, and the next will be surely the 4090 KP if AMD doesn't make really better :)

Thanks EVGA !

Yes I confirm the working KP bios 1000W with rebar exist :) If you have contact or you know where to look, you will find it :)

But, like you have a rev1.0 fixed version, i don't council you to use the 1000W, the XOC bios from rev0.1 will let you handle a constant 520W ! So except you have strong cooling / secure install / and really know what you are doing, using the 1000W is not a good choice for a working card for daily :)

Meanwhile i sent the old rev 0.1 back (RMA, i hope EVGA sends me back a Rev 1.0 this time) because i just bought a new 3090 FTW3 Ultra (rev1.0). It works very well (default boosts up to 1960MHz), but the default XOC bios on the card (94.02.42.c0.02) maxes out around 440-460W (never gets higher). But i can confirm the PCI-E power draw is fixed. I have not tested other bios versions yet, i'm just happy that i have a Rev1.0 now

@eXp67 which exact bios version do you use of the XOC bios for the 520W PT?

This one, the FTW3 Ultra XOC 500W bios from Rev 0.1

Having a stable 500-520W need a waterblock

With this bios the PT is 119% vs 107% for XOC rev 1.0, that's all, so 470W vs 520W

I would also like to chip in - Just received my 3090 FTW3U four days ago (V1.2)

I Did testing all weekend and hitting close to 500W with an undervolted OC in 3DMark and Unigine Heaven testing
- My 3090 FTW3U is version 1.2 and has all thermal pads replaced/upgraded and GPU has Thermal Grease applied (just FYI)

Voltage curve has been set to the following:
-- using 0.800mV for 1800MHz
--- using 0.950mV for 1920 MHz
---- using max load of 1.000 mV for 2044MHz (There is still PLENTY of OC room left yet this is where I personally like my temps/perf. ratio)

Port Royal: https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1503945
Fire Strike: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/27486065

To be optimal and get the BEST scores one would need an OC for every separate benchmark
- Fire Strike, Port Royal, Fire Strike Extreme,.... They all seem to like different Voltage curves etc.

The 500W Bios definitely works as intended and when undervolted the temps stay well around or below the 65C under load on both CC(Clock Core) and MEM (Memory)

Thank you EVGA for building a quality GPU, I am super impressed and a proud owner of you 3090 FTW3U :)
