Okay so obviously you haven’t read but ONCE AGAIN this thread is for extreme overclocking the 3090 cards. So if you aren’t here for that then leave? There are other threads to discuss your 3090 performance. This is specific to extreme overclocking. Read that again if you’re confused.
And that’s very nice that it’s easy for you to shell out $2000 like it’s pocket change. I worked very hard for every bit of my 9k rig so I do care that I’m getting the absolute bang for my buck. I would imagine most people who work hard for their money do care that they are getting the product they pay for. If not then you’re probably a sucker lol.
In terms of the ftw3 ultra it is important to most, as you can see very easily on this thread and the precious 115 pages as you stated, that shelling out the extra $300 resulted in the potential for pushing the limit with our cards. See while you’re comfortable just plugging it in and playing Fortnite on your stock graphics card settings, most of us on this thread are interested in pushing the graphics card to its absolute peak performance. Because we want to overclock. Not run it stock. If that’s the case for you, you should’ve got a cheaper card. And this isn’t a difference of 8 FPS as you so aptly put. This is a difference of at least 80-100 FPS or more, so again if you don’t understand overclocking then you shouldn’t be on this thread about overclocking lol. And if you are happy with running your 3090 stock then that’s cool too.
I use my workstation to color and edit massive files primarily and game on the side. When you’re editing 8k red raw files or coloring 6k Alexa footage you need the absolute best to have smooth playback and stability. I also enjoy overclocking in general because I’ve been at this for 10 years or so that’s another reason I ordered the ultra.
I’ve been loyal to evga for a long time because forever they’ve been worth every penny when it comes to their products and how they approach design from the ground up. They know what their customers want and they’ve always delivered, especially with graphics cards when it comes to overclock ability. I mean kingpin for crying out loud lol. And obviously this is still relevant because tons of people are asking why they can’t achieve over 440 watts with the 500 watt overclock bios. They are wondering what the issue is and hoping it’s the beta design just not working properly. So they’re coming to this forum to discuss which in turn should relate to devs updating the kinks in the software. Except this time it’s a hardware issue unfortunately.
So yes I am disappointed that they are dropping the ball so badly with this card and I have a right to be. I ordered this card 5 months ago solely because of the overclock ability. This is on par with MSI’s crazy issues the past few years. You could get the same frames with the standard FE edition or a freaking Ventus so I’m really perplexed why you shelled out $350 more dollars lol. I understand scalpers and feel for you there but Best Buy is still selling 3090s the same way they are selling Xbox’s and ps5’s so you could’ve got one there possibly. I do think the que system is very smart from evga but I don’t think that justifies a flaw in pcb design? Next time don’t wait til the last minute I guess lol. So please don’t go total fanboy champion defender mode when people have a legitimate reason to ask why and voice their frustrations about a massive mishap.
