Did some playing around with the strix I ordered to compare to my ftw3. I found that rolling back to the October driver gave me an increase of around 300+ points so I would advise to bench on earlier drivers for sure if you want comparable results. So far the strix is waxing the floor with the ftw3. Obviously this has everything to do with the fact I can’t clear 435W on any ftw3 bios. But I’m darn tempted to just keep the strix and sell the ftw3. And I personally hate asus bc of the support structure and love evga.

Yeah Every report is showing the Strix is waxing the floor but there almost impossible to get to the other ones you cannot get lol. At this point I will probably buy the Strix if ever possible and sell the EVGA

I think the ftw3 is equal “if” the power draw is figured out. My ftw3 was pulling about 78W through pcie. Strix is pulling 45W while obtaining 479W peaks. Happy to do any testing people want while I have both cards in my possession.

Was also Hearing that people were getting higher clocks with the Strix but I am guessing this is in correspondence to the increase in power draw the Strix is able to obtain.

Obviously silicon lottery has a lot to do with it for sure. For my cards the ftw actually clocks to higher boost target than the strix but once it’s loaded and per limit is set it drops quite a bit below the strix. That’s why I think the ftw has potential to hold the crown but needs the bios fixed to do so.

I don't think the BIOS is the issue.
If you flash the FTW3 500W Bios on the Strix and get 50W PCIE Slot draw, while on the FTW3 its 75W and throttling at 450W, then it's not the BIOS causing the problem.  It's the actual hardware on the board itself.  If it were a simple BIOS problem, you could recompile a fix by changing a few lines of code in a couple of days...

It's also worth noting the Asus doesn't have fuses (afaik) while the eVGA does, but the evga bios also works on the MSI boards (which also have fuses) so that's not the issue.
Something onboard just has the power ratio from the 8 pins to PCIE slot just wrong (not drawing enough from one of the 8 pins and drawing too much from PCIE, almost like that 8 pin's missing power is being put on the Slot instead.

Solved it Thank You!!!

Can you share what you did in case others encounter this? How did you fix it?

What bricked your card? XC3 BIOS? Or something else?

here bro just downlad the XC3 Ultra BIOS: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?manufacturer=EVGA&model=RTX+3090

If you gonna use XC3 BIOS DON'T install PX1 New versions other than 1.1.1 like I did with 1.2.0 as it will flash the XC3 Ultra Firmware that's NOT compatible with the FTW3 and will brick the Led part and more.

As for the procedure you have 2 switches, one for the Normal BIOS and one for the OC BIOS, in the OC BIOS I had the XC3 where I caused the problem and on the Normal BIOS I had the XOC FTW3. What I did was flash FTW3 Original BIOS and downgrade PX1 to 1.1.1, then upgrade to 1.2.0 again and after that he prompted me to install the FTW3 Firmware, then again downgraded to 1.1.1 that is the version I'm using and both BIOS back to normal Thanks God.

Any questions I'm happy to reply.

Cheers, Sergio.

Okay guys, I have to change my tune here. I got the 500W bios to work.

My old rig was an 6700k on an msi z170a gaming m7 motherboard.
...and I was never going over 420w with the new bios.

I finally got ahold of a 5950 and I built a new rig with an MSI x570 godlike.
I benched port royal and noticed my card is now pulling between 470-490 throughout most of the bench.

So maybe this is hardware related after all?

I do have the dreaded not china/ old with red lips card. So I thought I was just in the sucky card group.

But it's running with much more stable clocks on this rig and the 500w bios is appearing to work suddenly out of the blue.

Ahh, I see, thank you Sergio. So you can't use PX1 with the XC3 bios then right? When I tried the XC3 BIOS, I did not select to update and it would just close after. I used MSI afterburner instead.

So, this is the XOC BETA bios? I noticed I was drawing more power too but the card throttles harder also, so the scores really don't improve much. Whereas the XC3 BIOS benched much higher.
