What sort of gains on clocks & FPS are you guys seeing from going from the stock FTW3 BIOS to the XOC one?

I'm seriously considering getting a 3090 FTW3 Hybrid when they're available to queue for again, just wanting to know what sort of delta I can expect between 3090 FE reviews on the 3090 FTW3's XOC performance... then add in some margin for the GPU temps being cooler due to the Hybrid cooler.

Got about 3 hours to make up my mind O_O

Don't forget you have 8 hours to buy it once you get the email, so you have a few more than 3 hours. No one will arrest you for getting on the auto-notify list and then not buying ... I think

Seriously though, I was finally able to get a 3090 FTW3 this week and it's an OK card .. definitely runs quite warm. I had every intention of slapping a Hybrid kit on it, but I don't like the 1-year warranty that comes with the AIO and I'm pretty sure I can't extend it. However, if I get a factory installed Hybrid I'll get a 3-year warranty on the AIO.  So now I'm debating keeping and getting a kit, or selling it and getting the Hybrid or Kingpin.

I updated to the XOC and my power draw went from 350 to 365w. With XOC I'm high 1900 in TS and high 1900 with stock. In PR, high 1300s with XOC and low 1300s stock. I'm temp limited.

yes we tried it and it bricks the card and cause lots of troubles, use XC3 it works very good compared to XOC

Can you post a link to the working XC3 bios, please? At this point I'm willing to try pretty much anything.

Sure I use it for gaming and as I told before stable Metro Exodus and Cyberpunk 2077 ALL Ultra Settings 2100 (+85) / 10752 (+1000) not good for benching at least for me, but gaming I have weeks testing it and it's great. You will see that when the card touches 60C will start going from 2040 to 2085 or 2055 to 2100 but NEVER like XOC that goes to 1980 etc. The bettter you cool the card the better it'll work.

Thanks -- turns out that BIOS is super-crashy for me, even at stock settings. Back or original FTW3 Ultra BIOS with <400w power limit for me :(

Shoot I may have had the old bios on it still.... I've swap so much I think I've lost track..... right now I'm done fiddling with the card and the bios until I get my waterblock for it....

Are you sure you have your CPU and MEM Stable? This BIOS is a real one and will crash if you pass +85 CORE +1000 MEM, which is equal to 2115 CORE / 10752 MEM. The NOT normal one is the XOC that lets you put +160 and +1250 but it goes up and down all the time. But again use Intel Burn Test 10 passes as I explained before or AIDA64 FP32/64 Ray Trace to check that FIRST.

Good Luck.

All the Best, Sergio.

I cannot find the FP/64 raytrace test in Aidia, is that a beta feature? Is this a cpu or gpu test?

Thank you sir!

Just chiming in here to add my experience: I purchased secondhand, but BNIB, an early-run 3090 FTW3 Ultra with red lips and a serial number beginning with 2014 (manufactured in Taiwan). It exhibited many of the same characteristics discussed in this thread and was perhaps one of the worst samples in comparison to those I've seen here - it would struggle to pull over 390W even on the stock OC BIOS with the power limit at 107%, and capped out at maybe 80W on the third 8-pin. The XOC BIOS only made it worse.

I called and spoke to a very accommodating service representative who wasn't familiar with the problem but was happy to hook me up with an RMA after a lengthy and detailed explanation of why power delivery isn't supposed to work like this.

Fast forward to today; I received the RMA - black lips this time, but still serialed 2014 and manufactured in Taiwan. It works perfectly - on the stock OC BIOS with power limit at 107% it sits right around 445W in Heaven with spikes up to ~460W. I honestly don't even have any inclination to flash the XOC BIOS at this point because heat is now my primary concern.

I highly recommend anyone experiencing this problem just RMA their card and roll the dice on getting one that actually performs to spec. This is clearly a hardware problem with the early runs.

Thank you for sharing your experience bro.

Can I please ask you to elaborate on your liaising with the representative?
What was it that you had to explain to them, and what did you tell them?

I simply explained its behavior: The PCIe slot was pulling power over spec (in my case, 83W; 8W over the standard of 75) while the third 8-pin was pulling a good ~40W lower than the other pins. Also in my case, the power limit was being hit while monitoring tools were still showing values under the appropriate setting. E.g. When the limit was placed at 107%, the power limit would engage with Precision still showing 97-98% consumption. I basically made the case that the 35-40W being lost off the third 8-pin pretty much directly corresponds to the proportion of power that is being "missed" by the monitoring tool, and furthermore suggested that there may be a blown sensor preventing the correct reading and affecting vBIOS behavior. I also mentioned the fact that this exact issue has been plaguing people on their forums, and that hardware revisions seem to be a factor.

I had called during after-hours support and the rep initially suggested that I could call back during regular hours the next day and speak to a technical service lead, but also conceded that it seemed like I knew more about the issue than he did and accepted my request to go ahead with the RMA regardless. He even upgraded it to a cross-ship RMA even though I have a secondhand card, and the new, correctly-functioning one got here in time for Cyberpunk.

some folks returned the card and got a refurbished one with worse problems, so it's a hazzle, hope EVGA fix this soon

If I buy a Hybrid kit, do we need to update bios or firmware due to the change in fans?

Did you ever find a conclusive answer to this one?  I have a 3090 FTW3 Ultra and want to know what happens when I install the hybrid kit on it.  Will Precision X1 notice and prompt to install the hybrid firmware?  Or should I download the hybrid XOC from the first post and manually install it?

It's a CPU test, not a GPU test.  AIDA64 doesn't do 3D graphics stress tests as far as I know.  Just checked the very latest version.

Never got an answer. Ended up buying the Hybrid today as I wanted the full warranty on the AIO pump.
