I wouldn't give much attention to distributor pricings. These have "leaked" before with past launches and they were way off from MSRP.

I guess one way to fix supply problems is to charge so much for the card at retail that nobody even wants it

kind of like the strix 3080Ti at 2K+, or some of the non-xtxh 6900's that were close to $2K

That's what they do with Alienware PCs these days

Yup, this is how I got my kids their 2 Alienware computers. You can get a complete system minus the GPU on Ebay for even cheaper than buying the parts and building yourself since these GPU scalpers/miners are willing to take a huge loss on the entire system just to get the GPU.
(Yeah I know, Alienware's suck, and I can obviously build them their systems, but they got suckered by the looks).

If this is correct, the 3090ti prices are stupid expensive.

don't read into this.

first of all, zotac and MSI are rip of artists. MSI is the company that tried to scalp their own cards on ebay at 2x the price. and even when they aren't flipping their own cards on ebay, their cards are all disgustingly expensive even through retail channels. MSI 10GB RTX 3080 gaming is $1200 and suprim is $1300 in the US, and that's before sales tax. MSI cards cost hundreds more than anyone aside from zotac, which is somehow worse than MSI.

and second, these prices are from european countries with stupid high import and sales taxes (VAT). german VAT is 19% and is already in the price of the card, where as in the US, canada and many other countries, they advertised price does not include the sales tax.

Absolutely this.

I don't even consider Zotac a top tier GPU manufacturer but on the Newegg Shuffle their cards are going for the most. I don't know if that's because they let Newegg charge whatever they want, but I also make note that EVGA cards go for the same price on Newegg that they charge on their own website.

Consider this, you can get a 3090 Kingpin for more than $500 less than you'd pay for a Zotac 3090 on the Newegg Shuffle. If you had both cards sitting in front of you for those prices which one are you going to buy? Even if they cost the exact same it's a no brainer.

Zotac prices are that high. Their upper tier 3090 is almost $3k on their own website. They are in stock a lot of the time. Guess that shows where the upper threshold is at.
