Can an EVGA technical support representative explain on a technical level why non-iCX 1080 SC, FTW, FTW Hybrid, and Hydro Copper 1080s are not compatible with these BIOS updates? What is it, specifically hardware wise, that the iCX cards have, that the aforementioned cards do not?
Your reply would be greatly appreciated by those of us who do not own iCX cards and are interested in the potential overclocking headroom these updates may provide beyond the memory speed boost. My 1080 FTW non-iCX card already overclocks on the memory to 12000 Mhz (+1000). It earned me the highest 3DMark FireStrike score of any single 1080 GPU paired with an i5-4690K. The memory was overclocked to 12000 Mhz (+1000), the core to 2101 (+74), the i5-4690K to 4.8 GHz @1.425V with the uncore/cache at 4.6 Ghz @ 1.375V, and 32GB of DDR3 ram at 2400 Mhz at 10-12-12-31 timing.
