I've been reading that people are still experiencing problems with their second or third Card, even though they have went through almost every troubleshoot like updating the bios or changing out hardware parts. So it may be pointless to do an RMA return if i encounter the same issue
This specific issue has been resolved (100% fans spinning and black screen).
It might happen again? Of course. It's not 100% since it can come with hardware failure from factory.
What some people are experiencing, with the same issues (black screen + fans ramping up) was, and usually is, a stable PSU delivery problem on the GPU.
90% of the other causes I saw here, with these same issues, were PSU problems. Very few of them were the GPU itself.
I'm on my second card and it does the same thing (NEVER OC'd, have Coolmax 1000w, 2x6+2 to make 8 pin connectors to the 1080 card, [never use the included 2 6 pins to 1 8 pin] no issue with my 780) but here's the weird part; It will black screen/no signal, i'll have to hard boot the system, and this will repeat 3 or 4 times sometimes more, all within the 5-15 minute window, then after about an hour of dealing with it, smooth sailing... It's the weirdest thing. after anywhere from 3 to 6 blackscreen/hard boots, it will run ARK/FarCryPrimal/Dishonored2/NoMansSky no issues for the rest of the evening. Its ONLY after first starting it.
I went through the first week troubleshooting daily trying to figure out and i had a whole list for EVGA Tech Support, to the point that they didn't even have me try anything extra, they just gave me the ticket number to start the RMA process. I even pulled the card and put it in my sisters computer and had the same issues.
That being said, the original card, when it blackscreen'd the fans spun up to 100%. The difference with the RMA replacement card is that when it blackscreens, the fans stay the current speed. Not sure whats different, or if maybe this card is even worse off but after submitting this post im turning in another ticket with EVGA Support. I spent a week meticulously checking various compatibility websites and forums prior to purchasing the card to make absolutely sure before i spent $650 on a single piece of hardware. I'd really like to get this fixed, to pinpoint the issue at the very least. I saw on another forum for a different card to try downclocking the core clock and mem clock 30-or-so Mhz so i'm going to try that using XOC but after the weeks of troubleshooting, viewing hundreds of forum pages, and an RMA, plus going through blackscreening/hard booting every single friggin' time i sit down to play a bit, i'm running out of steam.
