I removed all but two notifies from my queue, hoping to get a notify on 10G-P5-3897-KR but I stayed in the queue for 24G-P5-3975-KR incase it is more likely to show up. I honestly do not need 24 GB of ram and would be happy with the 3080. I have not bought any cards in over 3 years-but I finally got a laptop with RTX 3070 and now I want the 3080 even more. RTX is nice, and the Tensor cores are nice to have.
The 10G-P5-3897-KR is not a LHR card and I wouldn't expect there to be any more made. If you kept it on the KL version you'd have had a lot better chance of picking one up imo. Good luck on the 24G-P5-3975-KR though.
Yeah I am not going to be stuck with a crippled card; I have been doing [link=mailto:folding@home]folding@home[/link] for years whenever I had free cycles, but I had to stop because the GPU shortage and I could not risk killing my primary card for charity (my EVGA GTX 580 3GB died while folding two years ago). If I get one of these I will use my RX5700xt for folding most the time and use the RTX for folding maybe a couple hours at a time to benchmark. But I am 100% certain the LHR cards will also effect things like [link=mailto:folding@home]folding@home[/link] and a lot of work related task. I would prefer to get a lower performing Quadro RTX 4000 that has complete features enabled than be punished for Crypto scammers that our government refuses to acknowledge (because they too must be in on the scam). I will not pay full price for a further crippled card; I actually do work on my PC including financial modeling (that is remarkably almost never right). The Quadro RTX is looking better and better.
How are people who mine crypto scammers?
I am a certified Information Systems Security Professional-so this is my professional opinion-before Bitcoin the ransomware industry was all but non existent and had to rely on using money orders and wire transfers that were easy to trace or reverse. Yes there was hacking and viruses etc. But Crypto mining has DIRECTLY subsidized and continues to encouraged the very worst humanity has to offer and brings it to a whole new level because of crypto liquidity. Robbery on line should be called robbery. If someone demands money from you it is a robbery. Taking over a computer and demanding a bitcoin ransom is ROBBERY just as is demanding money from a teller or cashier.
I have become a bee keeper to get some peace from the constant buzz kill that is on line robberies we call ransomware. But my day job has me dealing with this non stop.
It is my professional opinion Crypto currencies encourage ransomware. And while I acknowledge I benefit from this criminality by getting paid to combat it- I would far prefer to focus on building new things.
