linux mint 10 is just released it looks and feels nice once you get installed, however they used the same kernel used on the ubuntu 10.10 install cd so for me it took over 10 minutes to boot on my x58 chipset, but once i got it installed I downloaded the kernel (2.6.35-23) from ubuntu proposed and loded it up and works just fine at that point. I am very curious what exactly causes this probelm is it the x58 chipset or some other part of my computer. oh well

Had the same problem with my x58 as well.
On a cheap Biostar motherboard it booted right up.
    Runs great, looks great.
I like this Linux Mint 10.
There is also a Debian version of Linux Mint.
    Haven't tried that one yet.

Whats even more strange is that Linux Mint 9 and Ubuntu 10.04 both load and work fine on X58 systems...... I think they went backwards.

using the kernel from proposed they work fine... I am not sure what they did to the kernel to mess it up on x58 chipsets.

Despite the fact it didn't work too well on my x58, here is a nice review of Linux Mint 10
