- I need usb 3.0 support for an external hdd in my debian system but i found that the asus model have sata 600 and is cheaper than the usb 3.0 cards.
- I don´t know if exist a kernel with native sata 600/usb 3.0 support and if it can configure the card itself, because ASUS don´t make drivers for linux (or i cant find them). What do you think?

Don't really know for Linux.  Probably not yet supported.

I do know the ASUS board works with FreeBSD (it just defaults to the lower speed, no native support).  I would imagine it will be the same for Linux but you'd be best served checking the debian user forums for more information.

I'm not sure about SATA 6Gb, but USB 3.0 has been supported in the Linux kernel since version 2.6.31. Linux was, in fact, the first OS (well OS kernel to be more precise) with native support for USB 3.0.

    I stand corrected!  Thanks DB.
